The Crime Analyst oversees the agency's automated information systems used in the collection, collation, analysis and reporting of information related to criminal activities. Provide crime statistics, crime patterns and trend data, directed patrol data, suspect information, other agency reports and other information as needed. On an on-going basis, assess and evaluate agency's needs; how to present the data; graphics, layouts and appropriate method for disseminating the information.

Retrieve, validate, edit and update modus operandi data. Summarize narratives from daily crime reports for use in determining crime patterns. Prepare analytical reports and crime maps. Determine what information is pertinent and how to reduce lengthy narratives into short summaries.
Prepare weekly crime trend report for dissemination to patrol, investigations and other law enforcement agencies. Research and analyze crime statistics to identify patterns and series, forecast trends and recommend allocation of staff resources. Assess and prioritize data. Determine how to best present the data, graphics and layouts.
Prepare monthly crime overview presentation in PowerPoint format.
Prepare and disseminate monthly crime statistics to precinct commanders.
Facilitate the monthly Jefferson County meetings by collating all presentations into one PowerPoint slide show, preparing the conference room, and setting up the laptop, screen and projector.
Evaluate information, select essential elements and correlate new information with existing data. Assess and evaluate information. Determine appropriate dissemination.
Communicate information verbally or in writing regarding patterns and frequency of criminal activity to internal and external personnel. Evaluate data. Assess needs. Determine appropriate dissemination and method of reporting.
Compile information, analyze findings, make interpretations and write comprehensive reports based on this data. Assess and evaluate information. Hypothesize. Determine appropriate method of reporting.
Prepare graphs, charts (link analysis diagrams, event flow analysis, telephone toll analysis), tables, crime maps and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.

GED, High School Diploma:
Work Experience: Minimum three years
