1. Team Building Skill
• As a customer service advocate at Verizon Wireless, I recently worked with the coworkers to organize in my team how to go above and beyond the call of duty. Our aim was to help customers with their issues and concerns by giving customer satisfaction through successful troubleshooting. Our groups met initially to plan and execute tasks. My role was to follow up and follow through with customer’s requests. I established a plan for this task with calendar appointment to contact the customer I assisted and to document what I had done, what needed to be improved and by when. Our group met weekly to discuss progress. We discussed individual and team status reports to see where we stand compared to other teams in the call center. This ensured that if one team member was having problems completing their tasks on time then others could provide additional support. The team members said that they appreciated me taking on the task of giving feedback and additional support with new procedures, pricing plans and equipment and devices, as this was something that not everyone felt comfortable completing. This team work had significantly contributed to the success of our team.
1. Time Management Skill
• In my tenure with Verizon Wireless, our team decided that in order to be fully competitive we would need meet and discuss individual and group status on a weekly basis. I realized that in order to achieve this goal and not adversely affect my work load, I wou
Hours are longer IF you are not a part of the "in" crowd and are actually required to do all parts of your job which means your days, if you work in the field with technicians, are anywhere from 10-16 hours if you know your documentation has to be legitimate.
The best thing that I learned from Verizon is how to not be a boss but be a leader, unfortunately every leader I have ever known in my 20+ years in the company has been run out of the company.
Hardest part of the job is never having enough time in the day to get all of your work done and spend some time with your family. You have to make a choice, family or work and some of us choose family knowing there would be consequences at work but sometimes it would be just too much. Favoritism of loyal people is disgusting; meaning that if I know you broke a company policy and should be fired, because it would look bad on me and possibly cast dispersion on others that work for me that I already know are also violating the rules I make it go away and allow you to keep your job.
Managers are expected get more done with less and are expected to drive the associates that work for them to the very edge. There is a distinct separation of Union (associates) and management that makes the company a constant zone of what's right and what's right even if it is done in an unethical and sometimes illegal, yes I said illegal, way.

I worked for Verizon Wireless for 19 years. I started in customer service, moved on to technical support, spent a year in sales, transitioned to the credit review team and worked my way from rep to supervisor in that department (and the many iterations it went through over the years). If you've worked in a call center before then you understand the atmosphere. Lots of people working lots of different shifts, very noisy, fast paced and at times very entertaining. Also, very stressful (at times), repetitive, sometimes lofty goals and expectations are set (which can change monthly so getting used to change is essential from day one.)
Verizon Wireless in general is a great company to work for. The benefits are fantastic and you get plenty of vacation and personal time. Sick time is limited to 5 days a year and it would be more realistic to be given 7 since you are working in a call center. Like a school or other environment with lots of people coming and going, sickness can strike and spread through a floor or department like wildfire. In general it can be a dirty place. 401k is given as well as company matching up to 6% which is a huge bonus. The policies regarding vacation time accrual have changed over the years and I was grandfathered into the 'old' system so when I left I got 6 weeks of paid vacation, 56 hours of personal time and 5 sick days, which was pretty good. Being in management I didn't get to use all my vacation time every year so I always carried over around 100
ProsBenefits, vacation, perks and discounts, fast-paced and never the same
ConsPossible poor shifts/hours, sometimes unrealistic customers/management, can be repetitive, possibility of role changes or relocation

It's never good enough, way too many chiefs and not enough Indians
Verizon is a tough place to work. It is a haven for could of beens and single mothers. The management is horrible and they are forced to "push people out of the business". It's all about discipline. Most managers, I'd say 98% are people who couldn't do the rep job in the first place and who now try to tell us how easy it is. There is constant monitoring. Almost all our calls as well as our entire screens showing every move we make are recorded. The company will say this is for quality assurance but it's only used to catch reps not offering another stupid product that the customer doesn't need. Then you have your manager listening to you. Then you have the 2nd level sending out emails and instant messages saying they'll be listening. Then you have the 3rd levels saying they'll be listening. Then you have once a week when they'll pick one call and them every single manager on the northeast region will listen to your call and then tear it apart!!! Every manager trying to throw their two cents in saying how bad the call was. Sound fun yet? Then there's the force room. They are pure evil. They will ruin your life and you will soon grow to hate them. They are truly heartless and cold miserable people who hate reps and have no appreciation for what we go through. They will force mandatory overtime constantly. You may think great money, but once you have to do this job you will not want to work an extra minute. It's just more of a chance of getting fired. When you work at Verizon you
I worked with the company for 6 years, following a difficult time of unemployment. During that time i watched the unethical behavior and immoral actions of the company grow. deliberately being told to mislead a customer or not being provided with information pertinent to the customers needs. Leadership would listen to your grievances but would disregard them as soon as you were finished, and this usually led to a higher degree of scrutiny on the person who raised a concern. The goals metrics of a representative grow by leaps and bounds without any increase in pay or other compensation. Departments are downsized or completely closed, their responsibilities folded, or rather dumped, on the next closest related department, again without compensation. Supervisors will listen to your concerns and are friendly BUT do not take the time or demonstrate the initiative to assist their representatives towards their goals, this is largely left to their coworkers sitting next to them on the work floor who do not have the appropriate time to do so, and for those that do there is no reward beyond helping a coworker, and if not approved by a supervisor can lead to disciplinary action against the person trying to help. The company demonstrated in my time a singular driven interest to profit with almost no interest to their employees. This is a company that allowed unauthorized persons to make changes on my own account, an employee account, despite the legal ramifications and the companies own
ProsBenefits
ConsHigh Stress, little support, ever increasing metrics with no compensation
Compensation is good - not necessarily the highest comp in the world, but for a single person, it is quite good. Most jobs no longer receive free personal cell phone service, but all employees do receive significant discounts on personal service and accessories. Tuition reimbursement, though cumbersome, is worth the time and effort. I've found that not only does Verizon pay more per year, there aren't as many restrictions as with other companies (one of my previous employers required that I stay employed for six years upon graduation - Verizon has no such requirement). Health insurance is also top notch - if you're willing to pay for it. They not only have a 401k match, but are actively pushing you - every year you are automatically enrolled in their 401k and you have to opt out if you don't want it (it's highly recommended that you do NOT opt out).
But is it a fun place to work? Not really. Much of the fun was lost years ago. There's little opportunity to meet, let alone socialize with members of your team, without some major effort and approval from Finance. In my last year there - my team was spread out across 13 states. We got along and were professional, but much of the fun is drained when you're never in the same room.
Empowerment was once a major attribute. Not any more, particularly if you work with business customers. No matter how justified, no matter how small the amount, a B2B rep/support person has ZERO authority to credit, discount, or gi
Verizon Wireless is a great company and is good to their employee especially in the corporate/B2B departments. There are numerous opportunities for advancement and networking to further your professional career.
The biggest challenge specifically for the Business Account Executive role would be the internal sales structure that is highly restrictive especially in the defined territories and industry verticals that are assigned to each position specifically. The defined structure VZW utilizes restricting sales territories/industries creates an inconsistency across the BAE role within VZW because some territories/industries have a larger prospective client base than others. Due to the structure, certain sales professionals are constrained which creates a situation where effort and aptitude hold little to no significance in achieving success and reaching set goals. Sadly, some BAEs with these challenges are unable to utilize their full potential simply because of the corporate structure creating a tragic environment where both VZW and the BAE are at a loss. Yet other more (Territory/Vertical) fortunate BAEs are placed at a different form of disadvantage. Their territories/industries have more potential opportunity and as a result do not require these BAEs to fully apply themselves to reach (BAE wide) quotas/goals in comparison to their less fortunate peers. Unfortunately, overall performance is frequently not as reflection of the professional's ability, knowledge or effort. R
Verizon's training gave me a great solid base for customer service
From the very beginning, my training with Verizon was very extensive & fantastic for a solid start in sales. From presentation, word choice, attitude down to product knowledge, Verizon's training is the best I have experienced.
However, I immediately felt how low I was on the "totem pole" in my store when I arrived from training. My ideas and thoughts were dismissed in what I thought was a rude and unprofessional manner by the management of my particular store.
Other team members who had more years & experience than I, seemed to be conducting their sales in a completely different manner from which Verizon had just trained me. Maybe there should be some re-training periodically of team members. I felt at a loss of how I was supposed to obtain sales.
When I was sent to other stores in my district, I did not feel the same attitude in those stores so I was not completely discouraged. In fact, it drove me to strive for better quotas, sales, and overall customer satisfaction. I believe I thrived in the competitive environment that was present in my district.
As I became a better sales rep & built up customer relationships, I felt animosity from my other team members. My sales were driving the quotas up and I believe that the other reps felt annoyed that their quotas by consequence rose. They could no longer just "get by" in the way I thought they were doing.
Eventually, that animosity continued to build & led to my eventual termination from Verizon. I do not belie
Since I heard that 86% of people are actually influenced by these reviews, I think I have a duty to tell the whole truth. Let me get this out of the way firstly. Verizon Wireless has GREAT pay. Verizon Wireless has OKAY medical benefits, that is medical benefits that you still pay for. I worked in a call center which meant that a typical day for me was signing into my computer and phone taking about 100-150 calls per day, and selling and assisting customers. The nice part is that Verizon gave you a 5 minute window to sign in without getting penalized, depending on who your supervisor was. The thing you should most understand about Verizon is that when you work in a call center everything is monitored and I mean EVERYTHING, but not only that they are VERY goals oriented so they have quotas and very tough ones that grow every single year. Change is the only thing that is certain in that place. It changes everyday but not in a good way, one day you'll be doing abc and the next day you be doing xyz. They would introduce most things in what I would call the belly flop method, meaning sending you straight into the water and then ask questions later. While there I learned a lot about the corporate world and how much I didn't like it and it wasn't for me. So that's what I took away.
The management deserves it's own paragraph. The management were people like you and me. they had their own goals which then reflected upon you. they way that their goal reflected upon you becomes extreme

Why did you leave your job at Verizon?
Asked Mar 16, 2017
I left verizon because after 31 years of professional service because they put a collar around my neck. Electronic monitoring and metadata are their management tools. Both methods view you through a veil of assumptions. They assume I was a cheat, a liar, and lazy. The appraisal system has unattainable goals and they use archaic language in our contract to hold you down. After 31 years of success and a leader in quality and productivity I was deemed unsatisfactory and told I could not change job descriptions or locations until I was "satisfactory". My immediate manager was discouraged to give passing appraisals so that upper management could squeeze me do to more for them in hope of pleasing them. He left for another career and I left to regain my self respect. They have hired lawyers and psychological operation advisers to crush our spirits. Abusive, demeaning, micromanaging methods. Hey verizon, try a carrot and put away your stick. Your landline employees absolutely hate your guts and are cowed into submission. You encourage infighting and back stabbing and we participated because it is all you left us to use to 'suceed'. If you are a close eyed, small minded robotron you will find a home in verizon.

Laid off after 10 years of dedicated work. But how ironic I was oldest worker in the group with no medical issues. Sill had plenty of work. Had only four more years to draw maximum social security. Was forced to draw social security at a 32 percent lower rate the rest of my life. Company really does not care after they use you. Stay away. Cannot compete your career here.
