Patient Care is top notch
TCH is comprised of some the best physicians in the world. They are dedicated and focused on saving lives every day. When you see the great things that happen every day for patients and their families, you know you are in a great place.

Difficult to Grow Within
Post undergraduate graduation, I applied for numerous jobs that I was more than qualified for, but had to apply as if I was an external applicant and wasn’t considered for any full-time positions. Unfortunately, that led to me leaving despite wanting to stay with the company. Their internal advancement opportunities should be reassessed to allow room for growth. Management was great though.
ProsManagement, culture
ConsLack of growth, compensation

Great company, benefits, pay, etc.
Amazing company and most employees are proud of the work they do and the company's reputation. I would still be working there if I didn't have to move.

Great working environment encouraging people
9:00 a.m. starts the work day. Categorize patient files by the different condition/disease the children had. Log results gathered from the blood sample test that were taken from the children. Sit in on the daily meetings with the administrative director and Medical director for the progression of hospital functions. Reached out directly to insurance companies to see what their compensation polices were for families that lived in and out of the state.

Excellent Hospital for children
Wonderful institution for children’s medical needs. Management and leadership of the organization should prepare strategic plans to advance non exempt employees which have been with the organization five years or more. There is very limited movement in the organization for promotion or career advancement. Most senior level positions have been held by the same staff in some areas for 25 plus years.. leaving nowhere for other leaders to advance forward.
ProsShuttle service, near downtown
ConsLeadership communication

You are only an ID #, as soon as they don’t like you they try to dispose of you
I love the job in general, but they don’t realize the people working there have CHILDREN… & have ZERO compassion for our lives. They won’t consider working up a solution to keep you they just rather you go & replace you. The management is HORRIBLE no matter how loved you are my peers, patients, their parents etc… they always find a way to drag you down.
ProsWorking with the kiddos
ConsDon’t pay fairly, not flexible hours, too much Gossip/drama

Quantity over quality.
As medical care providers, TCH physicians and medical staff are awesome. Management is the problem. Focus is now quantity over quality. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Providers are having to see more patients which puts more strain on their already packed schedules and creating longer wait times for patients. It's about getting everyone in like there isn't enough business to go around. Same goes for the business office employees. Work X amount of accounts by the end of the week. Sometimes this doesn't allow you to fully work problem accounts throughly because you have to meet quota so you move on to another account. As long as the account was "touched" and some type of note or record to show activity. They want X amounts of accounts touched in a day so employees are doing what they can just to meet quota.

Amazing Mission
The nice thing is when you have a rough day, you are surrounded by patients you are impacting on a daily basis. The overall mission is meaningful and what keeps a lot of employees around.

Management is not good, they cannot control their workers, coworkers have their cliques and make your life miserable if your not part of it! No holiday bonuses, raises are very small,if any! Too many preferences in the workplace. HR is a joke!

What is the interview process like at Texas Children's Hospital?
Asked Jul 3, 2016
I had a phone interview first, and then a panel with 5 staff. The interview went really well. It even ran over, because they all said that I fit in perfectly with the team and it was more of a conversation. They said I'd definitely hear from them soon.....never did. A whole month went by and I went ahead and accepted another offer. It's been over 2 years, with not so much as an email from them. Very disrespectful, I feel.
