High Turnover rate in the Leadership positions
Never a dull moment when working in Facilities. I wear multiple hats so its fast paced with little or no support. One would have to be a strong leader with a lot of knowledge to perform with high expectations.
ProsGreat Support from from the regional team and corporate support.
ConsNo clear directon at local level and the leaders are not empowered to lead.

Great place to learn a lot; not great work-life balance
I learned a lot in my time at Select Specialty hospital. I helped in multiple departments and was able to gain experience that helped me move into other healthcare positions. I decided to leave because there was very little help when I needed time off; 2 of my young children ended up in the hospital for a few days and they contacted me multiple times to try to have me come in because there was no backup for my position and the department was falling way behind within 2 days. The position became very high stress and it became clear that a work-life balance was not valued by management.
ProsLearning opportunities
ConsWork-life balance, No back-up for time off

Nothing good
Did not have a good work experience at this facility- Management did not care if we had enough supplies to take care of our patients or if we had enough staff.
ProsClose to home
ConsTerrible management, Way understaffed, Unappreciated by higher-ups

A great company to work for and learned so much from the core values and expertise of this corporation.
Working for this company was a great experience and I learned so much from the years I was with them. Our goals every day was to grow and all strive for a common purpose. That was to help patients and families, but to also depend on each other and work as a team. I respected the core values of the company and lived by them every day. A typical day consisted of marketing to meet set goals but to always try and exceed them. I assessed patients for admission to a hospital and enjoyed the time I spent with the patients and families. I enjoyed being a leader of a team and teaching and mentoring them, but at the same time, I enjoyed the independence of knowing I had goals to set for not just me, but the for the hospital. The hardest part of the job was telling a patient or family they did not qualify for our facility for whatever reason. I always worked hard and went above and beyond what was expected of me, and always wanted to help in what ever way I could.
ProsTraining, salary, patient outcomes, team mates, values
ConsNot all staff members cared, micro-management

My Review
I enjoyed the other Liaisons I worked with and the CM's in the area hospitals that I worked along side of , management was ridiculous... I learned a lot, being in the ICU w/ RN's and MD's, The work place culture with the new Lead and DBD was one of dictatorship recently. The hardest part of my job was not believing in the product I was selling and in return pts and families suffered. The most enjoyable part of my job was being in the hospital and helping families through an extremely tough time.....

Questions And Answers about Select Specialty Hospital

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Select Specialty Hospital a better place to work?
Asked Nov 29, 2016
The best advice I can give, being a essential healthcare worker; if your team is not motivated, rewarded or appreciated, the patient is the one who ultimately suffers! Most healthcare workers truly enjoy what they do! Caring for those in need! But, when they are treated poorly, everyone looses!!!
Answered Aug 31, 2021
Be supportive to people’s needs. Listen to them. Make sure that they have what they need to get the job done right and if not get them what they need to do it. Don’t play favorites.

What is the ratio to nurse to CNA/CST? Or how many CNAs typically work a 30 bed unit?
Asked Jul 11, 2016
5 patients per RN, if staff shows up. 90% agency so good luck getting people to work. 10 patients to 1 CNA, unless agency staff does show up. You May have more.
Answered Sep 5, 2020
There is a need for CNA in the medical field the pay should match on what our job description required in most facility thst why the turnover rate is very HIGH plus with transportation us getting there if it 20 miles or more without us how can your busines run. Please consider.

What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Select Specialty Hospital?
Asked Mar 23, 2018
The HR manager is a used car salesman. He talks incessantly and knows nothing. If his lips are moving he is lying. Say anything you want he isn’t listening to you. He is his own audience. Then go work for good company not this one.
