Laboratory Manager | San Diego, CA | Sep 25, 2021
Great employer with great benefits
I worked at Scripps Health for 9 years and thought that throughout that time, they took steps to improve benefits, work environments, and make sure people had opportunities to grow. It wasn't perfect, but I do realize that it takes time to implement change. And their efforts were notable.

Great family oriented work place.
Scripps is a great place to work with many different career advancements available. Lifelong friendships are made. The benefits and annual pay increase for RNs allow one to provide a good family life.

Scripps is a great company
They care about their employees, the president of the company sends out a survey once a year to get the employees feedback on management and the company. It’s a great place to work

I have myself learn something new every day. I learn from the lowest to the highest, from all people and situations. As for my patient skills I walk on water.I love working with people (my patients especially)

Advancement opportunities
Scripps Health is a great company overall however the advancement opportunities are very slim. The office politics are almost childlike in behavior. They hire from within but it appears you have to have some kind of relationship with the supervisor or manager, it's almost more like "who you know" than "WHAT YOU KNOW", and i find that very insulting and ridiculously unprofessional. I would assume that with any organization you would want the most QUALIFIED candidate as oppose to your friend or a friend of a friend.

It's a Great Place to Work
It is a good fit for me and really helped to grow my career. They are family friendly and have many locations to work. My co worker's are educated, experienced and care about the patient's we serve. We get a lot of work done and have fun while doing it.

Patient Services Representative | San Diego, CA | Jun 4, 2018
Quantity over quality
A positive is patient contact and being able to help them get the most out of their visits. The work culture is very stressful, it's quantity over quality. The training on new procedures is lacking and is usually implemented right away. Not having the appropriate training can set one up for failure. Poor support from management.
Prosgreat benefits
Consinformation overload (recent change of EHR), a lot of favortism.

Great environment
Scripps is an amazing place to work flow, however, due to co-workers leaving and my boss having to run multiple departments, the work flow was not going very well. Which in turn, stressed out the other employees who were working hard.

Questions And Answers about Scripps Health

What is the interview process like at Scripps Health?
Asked Nov 17, 2016
Required a "video self interview" as the initial step, without reciprocal opportunity to learn any more to help candidates evaluate the position, but still specifying expectations of professional dress, suitable location, and time. I found it so disrespectful to require so much investment of time and effort from the candidate without any investment from the facility, and no benefit other than the possibility of moving forward in the process - I declined. They didn't bother to respond to my offer to do a phone screen or find another alternative.
Answered Nov 10, 2021
I was contacted within two days to record a video interview. I passed and was then interviewed by HR via telephone - it was very informal. Then, I was brought in for an interview with the exec and exec asst. I thought it went well, but there were more than 13 questions! All situational and some I was not prepared for. In retrospect, many of the comments made by the exec signaled to me that I would not move forward. I was then emailed on Halloween (bad timing) that I did not get the job. The email was not very kind either. I was disappointed with the treatment made by Scripps and am now glad that I did not get the job.

What advice would you give the CEO of Scripps Health about how to improve it?
Asked Jan 9, 2018
Add paid holidays, add sick time, union, and fix the problem with the employees as a lot of them are disrespectful to each other which creates a hostile work environment. La Jolla is the worse.
Answered Nov 1, 2019
Focus on employee moral at all sites not just La Jolla. Management is horrible.
Answered May 4, 2019
Why did you leave your job at Scripps Health?
Asked Mar 22, 2017
Asked to get botox as teaching tool in annual review and CEO ok with it. They push you out. The more years you have in the company is more of a reason to let you go for cheaper work force. Management will make up lies not to give you raise. Lot of pot licking It incourage hostile clicks between staff.
Answered Sep 27, 2018

What is the work environment and culture like at Scripps Health?
Asked Aug 9, 2016
A lot of employees are rude and fight during work hours, it can make a work environment hostile as management will not do anything about it. I had some good coworkers but I had a higher percentage of really bad coworkers. When you have weak Leadership that allows this behavior, it really makes working at Scripps unpleasant.
Answered Nov 1, 2019
Friendly. some backstabbers that try to prevent you from getting ahead. Pay too low & raises not frequent enough. Hard to advance.

It was okay in the beginning, but after awhile I felt unhappy and dragging myself to go to work.
Answered Nov 1, 2019
