Overall Reviews at Rolls-Royce

Best Place to Work
Company was my dream job. Great place to work, Senior Leadership was great in the support. Rolls-Royce always looking to eliminate waste and become lean. The focus on the customer, quality, and on time delivery is driven from the top down. I wish the energy sector would have rebounded so that we could have continued to be part of the Roll-Royce family.

Stable but Limited Growth
Working for Rolls-Royce North America provides great opportunity for early to mid-career level with competitive pay / benefits and interesting projects. Opportunity beyond mid-career becomes stagnant and flat with little to no pay increases forcing a career pivot for continual advancement to avoid complete career stagnation. The culture has improved and is good in most areas of the company to compensate for the lack of salary and positional growth. Work schedule is standard 40 hours with occasional overtime depending on projects and area of focus. Flexi-time is becoming more standard. The company is largely governed by the management and decision makers in Derby UK. Most if not all manager, VP, director (etc) roles are provided to those out of Derby which grossly demotivates as compared to working for American companies unless the position largely depends on a native in the region to work with customers and employees. Advancement opportunities are located outside of D.C. which further complicates the compensation / cost of living dilemma.

Great company that cares about their people!
Have been a Field Service Engineer for a year now. Rolls-Royce wasted no time bouncing me from job to job to get the required experience to attain my Certification. They really do care about their people. The pay is great coming in the door. Advancement is there. It is challenging but that's what makes it good. You are alone on jobs running crews for weeks/months at a time with limited support. I love what I do.
ProsRespected as a professional, treated like a person. Good pay and benefits
ConsLong stints away from home. Limited field support

Good company
A company that allows you to advance, upward mobility exists and is very possible dependent on individual and circumstances.

Very fun place to work
Busy but make your day goes by fast. You never knew what to expect and that is what made each day a challenge and exciting day. I learned a lot on how to deal with people and I am planning to use those experiences in my next job.

This is a great paying but bad culture job
Every 2 years you have to reapply and re interview for your job. They are about to downsize and the culture of those who have only worked there make it a difficult job

Rolls-Royce, Two Companies under One Umbrella
I was originally hired to work in their LibertyWorks Division, a separate management structure to work on military projects. I enjoyed the work and the people I worked with. My work was all classified or Secret as was my work at Raytheon.
During a reorganization, a new department was created called System Design Integration. I was placed in this department under new management doing things I did not fullly understand most of the time. This is my experience over the last two plus years. I am penalized for not knowing the things of SDI Engineers because I was never trained nor did I ever want to be an SDI Engineer. It's mostly handling endless forms, no design work, etc. It is completely outside of my skillset. Talks with management, Ethics and HR have proved fruitless. So I'm stuck in a job I hate with no other regress than to look for work elsewhere. RR is reorganizing again and there are rumors of a sell-off of part of the company.
Over the last 15 years, I grown a strong attachment to the Indianapolis area and wish not to relocate, if possible.
ProsLearned a new CAD system NX to go with my previous experience with Solid Edge and Pro/Engineer.
ConsI could not get the company to supply me with Mathcad or SnagIt, I've had no raises in two years.

Great people to work with and for.
Best company I've ever worked for, and should the opportunity arises I'd go back tomorrow. I've loved every minute, the people I worked with were amazing, couldn't have wished for better work mates. The management team were also pretty good.
ProsWorking environment is great

One of the best companies to work for
Rolls-Royce plc is one of the best companies in the midlands to work for. As long as you don't take advantage of the company and do a good job the company will look after you.
If you would like to be flexible in your role or would like to be trained in management role then Rolls-Royce will support you with your training.
Best company I have worked for in the last 35 years.
ProsFlexible working hours, Job stability, Good training, Good salary & holiday entitlement, good team building
ConsLong hours in some areas

A great company who desing, manufacture and support complex products
Rolls Royce is a good place to work, you are well treated, respected and your peers are some of the best in the business. The are some very interesting projects and the products, from a Nuclear Reactor plant to a 90,000lb thrust jet engine are extremely impressive. They can be a bit slow to react, but change is possible and ideas will be listened to. All in all a good employer.
ProsCulture, technical capability, salary and benefits
ConsSlow management, inflexibility.
