Great group of people to work with
A typical day at the company would include morning team meeting then work on a project (coding) followed by meetings with other teams, as needed, lunch and worked finished around 5 pm

Great place to build a career. Effective management group and people take pride in company principles.
Great place to build a career. Effective management group and people take pride in company principles. Mid level management culture is fairly mediocre. Very consensus driven decision making so great place to collaborate but getting things done is harder. Pay not competitive for top tier talent.

nope
How you treat others says everything about you as a person, and if your goal is to hold others back.... Alas most of us need income, so as an employee you have to tolerate. I worked for a miserable woman, every time I went the extra mile to assist others, she would say "why did you do that!' - why not help others if you can if it costs you nothing and makes work life easier? Holding others down and back doesn't make you higher. It says you had a life of disappointment that you now wish to take out on others. Most likely she will now make a big fuss of my replacement, having learned you can't continuously criticize your support staff and not be found out. In my last week, a coworker said "oh you don't know, the difference in the atmosphere since you started here, it's like night and day" - the manager did Not want to hear that I was well liked and very capable. The only thing i learned at NT is that there are more people who would hold you back in life than anyone who would want you to succeed, with no nod to teamwork at all. Don't you get tired of having to lie for bad managers, going forward? I have. there was nothing wrong with my work, she just didn't want anyone to shine more brightly, which wasn't hard to do....because at work, I'm not a miserable tard. Great company generally, dimn shame.

Great Culture at The Northern
The Northern is great a place to work, with talented, smart and committed people up and down. My boss took great interest in my development as a banking professional, exposing me to new skills and responsibilities every year. The only reason I left was due to a layoff (job function was eliminated and I was not seriously interested in the roles available at that time. But I do miss NT.

It was a great place to work
Northern Trust was by far the best job I have had (as I stayed there 14-years). However there was no opportunity for advancement in a satellite office and Comerica recruited me and offered me a more competitive salary and had more opportunity to further my career.

Working in a fishbowl
I enjoyed the investment experience and working with influential clients. Did not care for management - very political.

Company is large; needs improvement with management
There are many opportunities within Northern Trust. Management, however, could improve how they support their employees. Some SVP's lack management training and this hurts the culture and employee morale.

Rewarding and challenging place to work
I find the organization that fosters growth and challenges to each partner in whatever position he/she is in. Being part of the organization is also very rewarding professionally or personally. As a partner of this organization you're challenged in your daily tasks and rewarded for being a productive team member.

Great work-life balance
Great place to start off your career. You learn a lot and the advancement is results-based. Great place for women to work. But you tend to get complacent after a while and work tends to get monotonous.

Slow work space
Northern Trust is a good place to work for people who are at the end of their career. Its not a very fast pace working environment. Majority of the managerial decisions are made from Chicago who are not aware of what is happening in London, therefore are always on backfoot.

Northern trust gives you job security
Work culture is good. Job security is 100%. Can grow exponentialy but that depends upon the individual performance. Pay scale is standard as per the market.
