Directory staff & it's awful!!
Please do not apply for a job here! Iv worked my butt off to reach almost impossible stats for bonus for 3 months to be told yesterday because we're on probation till the end of the year I won't get it! Holidays are impossible to get, I have to just have half days dotted about when I can not when I want! I had 1 day off sick, manager saw me be sick in my waste bin & I got disciplined. I was promised a promotion which never materialised! People are very rude & talk in their own language & was disciplined for being 8 seconds back from lunch!
Such a high turnover of staff & it's not at all surprising!!
great place to work , very challenging, great people
The best part of working each day was with working with my team of excellent managers and committed staff. Without a strong team under your leadership, it is very difficult to manage such a large store productively and efficiently. What you get out of people, is reflective of what you put in.
I worked at Next for 2 months and it was the worst job I have ever had! I hope it wasn't Next as a company but this particular store was terrible! The staff have no respect for new people. They are not very friendly at all. You;'re just a number to them. I was put on fitting rooms all on my own, no help on a SALE day! I was put on shoes as well and this was with no training. Terrible place to work. I hope not all Next stores are like this.

Welcoming enviroment & fully customer focused
As a customer service assistant the total focus was on our customers & their experience in store. Excellent customer service supports the Next brands reputation. The Next management team lead by example & their enthusiasm was infectious. Superb support for new starters throughout.
Next was my first job when i was at college than I continued to work for them on and the off for 5 years.
My first few years where fantastic i loved working for them staff and management was great and good work was praised.
Unfortunately after change of management my experience went downhill. I would end up been given the shifts than noone else wanted to do ALONE and expecting me to finish all the jobs within my hours when it was a Teams job. There was odd occasions i was asked by supervisors "what they should do" which i believed they should have already knew.
I than went on holiday and they rang me twice to see why i was not in when my holiday was clearly written in the book.
I was also not aloud time off when my grandad past away which lead me to calling in sick. I was than "dismissed".

NEXT DIRECTORY- DO NOT APPLY TO WORK THERE AT ALL!!!
I worked at the next directory for almost 3 years, it was the worst place ever, it was like prison!
You get treated like dirt, like something someone has stammped on (dog remains),trust me. The managers and supervisors bully you, they treat you like you're nothing and laugh and talk about you behind you back. All they care about its STATS, how many calls/emails you do and do it in the quickest possible time, whilst also making sure there perfect which is impossible. A days work felt like forever, you are mentally tourtuered, holidays are impossible to take, your supervisor couldnt care less. For example, my dad passed away last year and I called 6 hours before my shift to let them know. There was no sorry or sympathy but "well you better come in tomorrow, one day of morning is enough", and when I didnt go in the next day, they gave me a discapinary!!! It is shocking! Only good this is the staff benefits such as discounts of clothes however, even if they paid me a million pounds I would not work there. It is awful, it is like gwantanobay, seriously. No windows, space etc... Also, there is ALOT of unfairness. I have been working my hardest for 3 years and been in the same position on the same salary even though I have applied for multipe promotions. But, a new guy came in a few weeks ago (no experience, younger than me, doesnt know what he is doing) but got promoted just because his brother is a manager there!!! Awful place. I will forever have nightmares about it!!!

Consshort breaks, stats, everything about working at next is a pile of dirt
I enjoyed working for Next, staff are very friendly & helpful. There were extra hours available to pick up, I particularly enjoyed the delivery side as it is fast paced.
• Planning recruitment events to hire new staff.
• Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, short listing.
• Attending meetings, taking minutes and keeping notes.
Being encouraged to sell thousands of pounds of furniture to customers with no commission and minimum wage is a joke. Most co-workers seemed like they hated working there.
Next is an average company to work for. Wages are low but the benefits are good. Hours and shifts are suited to most people. Good food at canteen and decent facilities. Staff shops are good with a decent discount.

It was fun and I met wonderful people who still kept in touch after I left
Good place to work, nice colleagues and good work life balance. Good culture, I loved the safety processes carried out during the safety meeting for new employees. Lots of lessons learnt from it.
Enjoyed several years at next with some great management
left due to bullying as male i was working with wanted my job and he got other members of staff to tell lies about me was infomed about this after i left the company
Prosdiscounts of purchases
Cons13 hr days and not getting to see child as working 6 13hr days
Did not enjoy working there. Came to Next from overseas with a totally different culture. Was hired as a developer but did next to no development work at all. Was just fire fighting system problems.
I was a strong programmer but got bogged down by having to learn JCL and Next's other background systems from scratch. Was frustrating. Didn't get a lot of help.
Not paid enough, stressful environment, over worked, the staff are asked too much for bare minimum and they don’t allow you to enjoy your holiday without bothering you and making you still come in
I worked in various roles for next, it wasn't the greatest place to work nor was it the worst, I think it has a good friendly atmosphere however, I have not worked there for 8 years so my viewpoint may be different to someone who works there now.
• Good company to work for if you don't mind early shifts (5am
sale dates/7am normal days for stock workers) and don't mind a
bit of hard work, and small contract hours but there may be
more hours available around busy time of year
• Can be very busy Christmas time and can be very quiet in the
summer time.
• Very early times for sale dates but it is very busy on sale days
with a good buzz around the shop plus free t-shirts for everyone.
• Mangers are very hard working and very easy to get on with.
Prosgot free uniforms in worked in the store room staff very nice and managers
Conslow working hours during quiet times and don't offer full time contracts
I was hired on a temporary basis while the sales happened. A fast paced but friendly environment. Permanent staff were helpful and supportive if any questions needed to be asked.
Next has grown as a company but has left behind any loyalty it had for it's staff. If you walk into any retail store you will find that over 80% of staff will be new recruits as the staff are underpaid (£6.30/h) and overworked. The company has introduced a new policy wherein they save tax by only employing part time staff who are only allowed to work upto 20 hrs a week, yet they expect there staff to be available 7 days a week! My own store has been reduced so much so that there are only 3 Manager. The store manager and his deputy manager. The 3rd manager is a part time manager. Like I said Next has become beyond a joke. Its supervisors only earn £7.97/h. I know shelf stackers at Tesco who earn more!
enjoyed my time at next, every day was different, company benefits are great and over time is always available
