The new york look was a place where i lived more than worked! I was their most of the time of my day the staff was more like family than co- workers. I loved the experience i met many diff types of people even celebrities and learned about responsibility
I joined when the distribution centre opened in 2005. Within days I was being discriminated against for being 'one of the quiet' ones and overlooked completely for an early promotion to what is known as 'Key colleague'- DTS had the contract then when no structure was in place to determine whom progressed. Stuck to it, used and abused in a forklift role (You get no enhancements for driving a fork lift) and was put back into warehouse after six months in a audit secondment because I 'wasn't fitting in with the office environment
Poor ethics and equality
ProsJust having a job
ConsPoor bullying culture not bothered about retaining staff
Hi demand in a very competitive market made it stressful environment with low staffing hours and pressure from management to preform making the job stressful
ProsGood discount
ConsHigh work load

Where workmanship and quality is the top priority!
A typical day at work is always striving to get more work. Staying busy and working with clients to ensure satisfaction and excellent service delivery. I learned and developed many skills working at New Look, most importantly how much dedication it takes to lead at a high level. I realized in order to be a formidable part of a team is to lead by example and use proper judgement when guiding operations. Management is organized and meticulous when taking on projects whether large or small making sure quality is at the mainframe of everyone's mind and culture. Co-workers are a team of unique individuals who pride themselves on their craftsmanship and are results driven. The hardest part of the job is not getting supplies delivered on time, which causes idleness and loss of productivity. The most enjoyable part of the job is leading teams and coordinating staff to accomplish finishing a project.
Positive work environment where people feel valued and appreciated. Everyone is supportive of each other and has a great time together. Flexible hours.

Good Enviorment and great co workers
I learned a lot at New look beauty salon they really taught me the best customer service and how to help people with all there needs. I enjoyed working there it was the best experience the only reason I left new look beauty salon was because I moved 1:20 minutes away.
I worked for the new look store in Crawley and it is awful. I was contracted to a 4 hour contract with the grantee during my interview of gaining more hours, how wrong I was. After 7 months of persistent nagging for more hours I finally received them (20 hours for that week, I was not impressed) only then to have them taken away from me and suspended due to "persistent misuse of staff discount" 2-3 weeks prior to this happening a group of girl friends and I took a trip to another new look store and I myself having no money took full advantage of my new look store card and staff discount, I did purchase ONE item for a friend which apparently is against the rules. Little did I know as all the other staff members do it from time to time! *slap on the wrist* Naughty me.
Then like I said, 2-3 weeks later I am dragged into the office and suspended on the spot and to await disciplinary action with out warning and on my contracted pay for PERSISTENT misuse of my staff card!! Which as I previously mentioned I bought ONE item, ONCE. I have now waited a total of 3 weeks to eventually hear any thing from head office and could potentially be sacked for something so minor!
On another note, the store manager is rude and treats the staff like children, for example; if a member of staff receive positive customer feed back you receive a gold star or you win a cup of coffee from the local costa, I kid you not. The whole place is segregated off into clicks and certain store team leaders
Encouraging environment, with lots of training available to help you be better at your job. Work culture is very cooperate so there is a tendency sometimes that you feel small
I found New Look to be a friendly place to work. They are a very forward thinking company and often put the employees requirements/needs first.
like all companies management varies dependant on the person. I found that the flow of information coming down the line was ok but when trying to report up the chain it was closed off.
Hardest part of my job was working across many departments as the company is very splintered and many of the departments work in silo's doing there own thing.
Should New Look survive this period of difficult trading and debt. I would definitely recommend them and would also consider working there again.
ProsGood Salary and Benefits, Subsidised lunches and helpful work life balance
Conswork in silo's, communication only comes down.
It was a long time ago that I worked there. Things have changed since then. Reviewing this workplace now would be wrong on many levels. I enjoyed it when I was there.
A typical day at work would consist of me providing great customer service from the moment I step on to the shop floor. Other duties include dealing with the stores figures, merchandising departments and dealing with delivery.
I work with an amazing team and love interacting with our customers.
Pros50% discount on clothing and accessories
Consnot enough hours, i need a more challenging role.
Overall each day was fun and brought something new. Being a department specialist came with a lot of responsibility nd many various jobs, which left me feeling productive each day on the job.
Always a good up beat atmosphere, always enjoyed being kept busy and helping people.

I absolutely loved working there for the first couple of years, it was my first job after leaving school and I met some great people. however, they then decided to re-brand and opened dozens of new stores which I played a big part in, travelling across the North East and Scotland helping get the stores ready for opening. This was an enormous cost to the organisation so much so they decided to make certain job role redundant, including mine, for what they were offering me to stay was not worth the money or my time so I took redundancy. Since then they have closed down a number of store, resulting in more job losses. They also reduced staff benefits dramatically.
Prosnone
Consthe organisation does not care about its employees on the front line.
