The best work you can have but terrible management
Ramp Service in general has the potential to be a good career for anyone interested in Ramp Operations. However, there are many contract companies in the business that are lucrative because Mainline Companies opt out of paying there own operating cost to contract ground handling companies for a lower price. These contract companies that I know of are as follows; Menzies Aviation, G2 Secure Staff, and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS). There are plenty of more out there. The Company I worked for at ICT was Menzies Aviation. If you are an aviation enthusiast like me, the job itself is incredible. But the compensation and benefits are a different story. Earlier I mention Menzies Aviation is contracted for lower operating cost. That means your employment, pay, and benefits are suppressed in order to limit operation cost while salary management or Menzies pocket bonuses and incentives Issued by United Airlines. In other words, your pay is trash; even their equipment is poorly maintained. I affirmatively urge anyone looking to start ramp service to direct you efforts to actual Mainline Companies. Mainline Companies are direct airline carriers and there subsidiaries such as United Airlines; United Ground Express, American Airlines; Envoy Air. There are plenty of options to choose from. If you need ramp experience or just simply have no choice, this is my review on my time at Menzies Aviation: Wichita Kansas. You will receive $10 an hour with no raises unless promoted to another positi

Fun Job, Terrible Management
The work itself is fun. Having the responsibility of marshalling and handling several aircraft a day holding 100+ people and the day goes by fast. It's a fast paced environment and the people you work with also do their best no matter the situation. Unfortunately those are the only good things about the place. -Horribly understaffed (Started with 40 agents, lucky to have 10 in an entire day now) and expected to pick up the slack for no extra pay or motivation to do so. -Communication is nonexistent here. Something you do one week could get you written up the next and you have no idea about the change until they punish you for it. Management has meetings every week, only allow leads and supervisors to attend and somehow expects everyone else to know whats new even though they can't attend. -Work morale has been killed here since Menzies showed up. Every time something goes wrong, management tries to throw an agent under the bus, write them up and call it a day instead of trying to fix the problem. They even try to overcomplicate the simplest of tasks in our work, which in turn takes the fun out of it that keeps us going. -Only had 2 uniforms for first 3-4 months of work when working 5 day weeks. Only get max of 4, which still doesn't last a week. -Pay is consistently wrong. One of our agents was missing an entire 2 weeks worth of pay and another was missing over 20 hours of overtime in a single period even though it was all handwritten and turned in directly to manag

Worst Place I've worked so far
If you do plan on appying for this job which I can imagine why you might try to do the following: -Make Friends Fast (Co-Workers are awesome and they'll understand your struggle and will help you more than the actual Management) -Stay Away From Supervisor (Keep them to a neutral don't do "favors" or "help them out" they won't do the same.) -Always Keep Looking (These Guy Fire and have people Quit left and right, Like it's water) -Don't bring anything you need to put in a fridge (there appliances are F disgusting and so is there whole shop) -Realize your one of the lowest paid branches and some People that work at mcdonalds have better pay and benefits than you (Lets just get that out of the way) -Don't rely on their Benefits to help you (They hardly Cover anything). -Don't Try going to the Union or your representative (Your representative heardly ever introduces himself eats by himself and does it work quitely while breaking every rule and the union doesn't care as long as you keep paying them) -Follow EVERY STUPID RULE (Even if the supervisor don't or say "They Don't Care" cause they will find a way to fire you when they don't like you and that is usually how they fire people.) -Forget About Having A Social/ Family Life (You Can pick 2 Shifts 5am-1pm which hardly ever leaves at 1 and your likely to get drafted which means you need to pull a double and you will be exhuasted. 1:30pm-10pm everything is either closed or everyone is asleep.) -Recor

Productive and fun workplace. Give it 100%, and know that you'll get 100% of your job done
Work-life balance Work-life balance at Menzies Aviation was always a new day. You never know what kind of day you're going to have. When you have a great crew and you can run like clockwork our work will stand for itself! Pay & benefits My pay and benefits at Menzies Aviation very appreciative! But the benefits concerning for insurance was not at all appealing even after getting into higher management Job security and advancement In terms of job security at Menzies Aviation, I think everyone with the exception of few gave me a good sense of security. Management In general, managers at Menzies Aviation we're polite courteous and tentative to circumstances. I've only encountered two bad incidences where people in the same position as I decided cursing towards me was a great idea. Culture Collaboration with my colleagues at Menzies Aviation was amazing as a ramp agent and as I had climbed up the ladder into management I had repetitive nature in doing my daily duties due to the fact that I could not proceed to continue going further if I was not going to be able to work with others in order to be signed off and able to continue my work without having my training room manager understand people were not working with me and was left in my own position to work that out. I found out hard to deal with but with benefit of the doubt it was during an audit season and everyone had multiple things they had to accomplish. Not to tarnish anyone, but I definitely could have been trained ve

Ridiculously unorganized
Job work/life balance was easy enough. Most of the time we were out early, you have to stay for a plane if it's delayed but they wouldn't force you. Compensation/benefits were laughable. Could not afford to take the benefits because then my paycheck would have been even more ridiculous. Job security/advancement was decent as far as I could tell. Company has a pretty high turnover rate which meant that a lot of people stretch the rules (call off, no call no show) and they still have jobs. As far as advancement goes, no one really wants to deal with being a ''supervisor'' in the company even though the supervisors try and alleviate themselves of as much real work as possible so I don't see why not. Management was basically non-existent. It's definitely a hands off job but there were a couple of situations that I personally got into that caused a lot of trouble due to poor management. Job culture is terrible. The people that I worked with were fun to be around, good team players but the environment that you work in is terrible. The break rooms are filthy (people don't care about them because they come in and they aren't cleaned so it just snowballs). one of the break rooms has a cage in it to section off a small part of the room because ''Menzie's didn't want to pay for the whole room'' Overall it was a good experience. The managers/supervisors are lazy to a fault but if you can get over that and need a launch pad in order to transition to another job, I'd recomme

Demanding, stressful, fast paced work place.
This job has been by far the most stressful workplace ever for me. Everyday is different as the Passengers are. This workplace and its duties really taught me to be patient with people and to always keep humble. Management here was very Professional and precise. Employee meeting were held every day before our shift started and at the end of it. Since we were dealing with flights, delays can happen. My Coworkers here were different from any other work place. We did not talk too much since we were all very busy most of the shift. However, if any of us needed help, someone would come to help out. For the most part, everyone was in their own lane since it was a fast paced work place. The hardest part of this job was when the Airline had delays or Passengers wanted to check in more baggage than approved. Passengers would get upset, enraged, and emotional. Since we had Security on site I told myself that wouldn't be a big problem. I did however find it hard at first having to deal with the emotional but as time went by and it happened more often I learned to not let it get to be because they should know better and read the terms and conditions upon purchasing their ticket. The most enjoyable part of this job to me was at the end of the shift when all Agents would gather for our daily meeting. I loved it when our Supervisor would tell us what a great job we did. Out of any job I've held this one has been the most stressful, yet rewarding job. It disciplined and s

This company sucks do not appy
Menzies over all is a horrible company. The fueling was easy and fun, but your pay in Orlando is 11.50 you get one raise to 12.00 and than you top out with that until they negotiate a contract which will never happen at all. The older people been there for 20 years and only making 14 bucks. Your check with 80hrs every two weeks be 790 or 780 each paycheck. You will literally have to work at least 4 doubles to make a thousand dollar check. The Supervisor and leads do whatever they want, communication is bad. Supervisors leave early or go home for 5hrs and clock out while the lead is the only one on the field helping the fuelers. No matter what if you tell the fueling manager that the Supervisor is treating unfairly he doesn't care.Btw his name is John and all he does is sit in the office. He is never on the field to see what's going on. Fueling equipment is very bad trucks got fuel vapor coming through the vents and on 3 trucks the transmission are bad but they still make us drive them knowing that it is unsafe. Benefits are horrible also this job is only worth it if you want to get experienced other than that dont come to menzies at all it's a waste of time. I would never come back to this company. They already in the process of losing stations all over Florida and it is a matter of time before they lose Orlando.
ProsFueling its fun to learn how to fuel all kinds of aircrafts
ConsYou have to stay a extra 30mins after to get a total of 8hrs and equipment is old and broke down

Sketchy, Revolving Door
I would ONLY reccomend working for Menzies Aviation in Windsor Locks, CT if you literally don’t have a life outside of work and don’t mind being treated as a tool. If you have young children, responsibilities that can take you from work, not able to work 10+ hours and free to potentially work your days off due to people just not showing up, then this job is for YOU ! The job is listed as part time, DEPENDING on what contract Menzies decides to assign you to ( where staff need is greater and seasonal flight schedule) — DO NOT WORK FOR SPIRIT AIRLINES. VIVIAN PEREZ AGOSTINI IS THE WORST. 60% of the time when they’re properly staffed, you’re able to work your 8hr shift then go home, however there are times where you’ll be needed to cover and they won’t care what important things you may have to due after work so be ready for the guilt trip. While the hire ups leave promptly at 3pm regardless of issues. You’re likely to be yanked around if you have any questions regarding benefits or any questions at all.. ( BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE TO FULL TIME ONLY) you’re hired as part time and even though you work 32+ hours a week, you’ll never have your status changed to receive those benefits. No paid days off, or vaca. To be frank, if you just want a check every other Friday and don’t care about benefits, drama, and never having your questions answered. Apply. They’ll lay you off when the airline’s contract is up anyway.
ProsNone
ConsStress, stress, more Stress.

A cool job, not a great one
The work you do is probably the best aspect of the job. Compensation is low compared to the work that’s done, I think it deserves $15 starting pay at least. No raise incentive or anything. No paid time off or sick leave. You get vacation only after a year. Hours aren’t very flexible, they have to work with the flights schedule. You do get plenty of down time which is cool. Management is pretty bad, they pocket all the bonuses for the work that WE put in on the ramp and customer service. They also tend to ignore most of the needs for the employees, like fixing the equipment and making sure we have supplies. They tend to treat employees like kids when it comes to their policies. They also push a lot of their responsibilities to supervisors. As for benefits, you do get free national flights, but you fly standby, which means you don’t have a guaranteed seat. The healthcare plan is no better than buying Medicare/Medicaid. Turnover rate is pretty high, unsurprisingly, so expect to see a lot of people coming and going. In conclusion, this job is great for temporary employment, but if they were willing to implement changes to accommodate the employees more, than it would be a solid 10/10 job, and you would see more people sticking around. I enjoyed working here for the job itself.
ProsFlight benefits, job duties, easygoing environment
ConsPoor compensation, bad management, bad health benefits, no flexibility.

Everything is broken and nothing is being done about it.
The job is fairly easy once you know what you’re doing. And it’s a great job to start off in the field of aviation, but definitely not a long time gig. We aren’t provided adequate equipment to do the job in a proper, safe, and efficient manner. Employees are busting their backs to get the flights out on time with equipment that’s in shambles and unsafe to operate, yet we can’t take the equipment out of service because “that’s not getting the planes fueled”... and maintenance isn’t approved to order the parts to fix it because the company doesn’t want to spend money. After an exhausting shift and getting all flights out on time with no delays, you don’t get appreciated. You are required to work overtime because they are constantly understaffed, 4am - 7 or 8pm (sometimes later) then expected to be back in at 4am the next morning. Also when they say they care about your safety, they don’t. The ground handling side at this station also lost its two biggest contracts so don’t bother going over there either, it’s the same story. Let’s not even get into the belittling you get when you ask for time off or have to call in sick. One good thing is 95% of the other employees are awesome to work with and easy to get along with.
ProsUnlimited overtime, almost no rules to follow
ConsOverworked, under appreciated, underpaid, very little down time

Great environment at the airport with friendly colleagues.
Ever since my first taste of flight as a young child, I have been fascinated by the aviation world. "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." This is possibly the most famous aviation quote, and for me, the most honest. To fly an aeroplane full of people and to be entrusted with their lives would be one of the most satisfying and fulfilling feelings I could ever imagine in my lifetime. At the age of eleven, my family moved to Christchurch, New Zealand. While we were there I had flying lessons for my twelfth birthday. These lessons have added to my love of flying and travelling. The breath-taking views over the South Island of New Zealand both stunned me and inspired me to achieve my childhood dream of becoming an airline pilot. My enthusiasm has only grown over the years when I was capable of joining the Air Cadets. I joined 1579 Erith Squadron at the first possible opportunity. From there I flew several times in the Grob Tutor, gaining approximately six hours flying experience. I was also lucky enough to participate in gliding at RAF Kenley through the Air Training Corps. After these flying experiences and getting a better taste of flight I decided that it was important for me to get a Class 1 Medical exam. I passed my Class 1 Medical in November 2013 as this was a key factor into my decision to follow a career in aviation. In 2010 I was awarded two sep

Great Experience and opportunity
I enjoyed my experience with Menzies Aviation Group which was why I had been there for almost 8 years. If my husband hadn't got a job overseas and we moved I would have most definitely remained. A typical day at work is never the same which is why I enjoyed the environment so much, there was always new challenges to learn everyday. Coming from Menzies, I have learned so much about myself that even I did not know, anything is possible if you just have the right mind set and believe in yourself that you can achieve higher. Management were very friendly and you can always rely on them to support you when you need assistance. I never had any issues with any of my co-workers I believe that a good relationship with your workers makes the job easier, even with the hardest co-workers you learn to deal with being around them in a professional way. The hardest part of the job I would say was the shift work of not knowing what you might be scheduled in a few months in advance. The roster staff was very helpful in re-arranging shifts in order to accommodate with your plans, although it wasn't always possible the roster staff did a great job to make me understand why it wasn't possible. I fully understand that the company can't accommodate for everyone's needs, I like the fact they rotate staff to have a specific day off e.g holidays, so that everyone gets a chance this year or the next. The most enjoyable part of the job was the atmosphere, it was a mixed cultural environment
ProsFriendly staff and environment, A lot of opportunities to grow in the industry

Best company that employ staff with excellent comradery and laughter *Good Times*
Menzies Aviation Cargo in Mascot was the best company I had worked for. What made me feel this way? Was the comradery from my fellow co-workers within the warehouse and the office. It has the most promising job security to offer as the aviation industry will never decease but will only get bigger and more demand for any aviation related task. The downfall, if you have a family, wife and kids, don't get your hopes up spending weekends with them or Christmas morning or New Years Eve/ New Years day with them as you may be rostered on for shift. You may do shift swaps or take a day in lieu or apply for annual leave, but that's only successful if you are approved or whom you offer to shift swap with accepts the swap. Other than that, I really enjoyed my time at Menzies Aviation. Having the authority to drive airside and to be very close to million dollar aircraft where the public don't have access was one of the excitements that come with the position. You get your fair share of events such as the US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III from time to time, or in my time at the airport I witnessed Air Force 1, Manchester United chartered 747, a shortened Saudi Arabian Airlines 747. But at the end of the day, your stuck in the warehouse sweating (if hot) building export freight for Menzies Aviation Cargo clients such as Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Thai Airways, Asiana, Garuda, Etihad, Fiji Airways, Air Asia.
ProsAviation industry very secure, Family orientated company, Friendly and welcoming staff.
ConsInconsistent rotating shift roster, Difficult to have annual leave approved (2 at a time annual leave Warehouse and Office)

Fun workplace, very practical
A typical day at work with Menzies Aviation at Sydney International Airport consisted of working and assisting with travelers and families as they make their way to aircraft and of on their adventures. In this role, I learned how to assist people with disabilities and how to communicate with people who are not fluent in English, how to use reservation and booking system software such as Galileo in order to check customers into their flights, how to assist people with baggage problems, and also, key information on the travel industry. My co-workers were lovely people as they were very friendly and welcoming of me to the job. They were also very helpful if I needed assistance with any of my duties. Management was exceptional as they were very welcoming of myself to the company, and made sure I was comfortable and had the assistance I needed if I needed help. The hardest part of the job was always being on your feet for long periods of time, walking from one side of the busy airport to the next, and then back again. Although, I must say it was very enjoyable. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to work at Australia's busiest airport and experience what it is like to work in the travel industry. Also, being able to communicate with people from all around the world making their way in and out of Sydney. Lastly, it was enjoyable to work with a range of different airlines such as Fiji Airways, Thai Airways, Delta Airlines, Etihad and United Airlines.
ProsFun working environment, working with people from around the world, working with airlines, friendly co-workers and management
ConsNo cons

Exciting and challenging
Working at the airport everyday is different. I work on a shift pattern starting at 4am and finishing at 1pm, I am currently working 3 days on and 6 days off. My day is split between check in and boarding both sides of the job are challenging and fun. My job at Menzies is to follow security procedures, this includes checking passports, visa's, other documentation of travel. Sometimes this does result in refusing people travel when they do not have the correct documentation to travel. This job has taught me to stay calm, to stay vigilent at all times and has also taught me how to communicate with all kinds of people. People I communicate with maybe know very little English or none at all, they may be angry and aggressive, some people maybe deaf, blind or have other problems. Every passenger I meet is different. This job has also taught me to listen and to understand. The hardest part of my job is dealing with those passengers that are angry and aggressive, many of these passengers end up using threatening behaviour, dealing with these types of passengers are the most challenging of them all, keeping calm is essential. The most enjoyable part of my job is that my customers walk away from my desk or my gate area relaxed and with a smile on their face, I believe this makes a great start to their holidays. My co-workers are great people, working at the airport with all the different shifts and unsociable hours you become like a family. Everyone helps each other out and we always m
Prosnone.

How do you feel about the future of Menzies Aviation?

Absolutely not ever again
Answered Aug 7, 2019
The company is a joke and so is their senior leadership. The field operations management and above have zero respect for anyone other than collecting a hefty check to sit on their butts and stir gossip and trouble. They don’t care about their employee or customers. Poor safety record with tons of aircraft damage. I don’t know why airlines risk their reputation by working with Menzies a receipt for disaster. It’s the most corrupt company I have ever encountered. Not sure why the feds haven’t closed them down. Run away fast.
