Racism and Terrible Leadership
This review is very old considering I hadn't worked at my location for a while. I dealt with a racist staff and management that sat on their hands when I made a report about it. The owner of the restaurant was cheap and we constantly dealt with broken things such as bathroom stalls and broken brooms.
ConsNo lunches, Racism in staff, Terrible Management

Bad management
I would never go back to this job because of the pay amount and because of the drama that you take with the job you also have to balance the customer's and stress that you already get from the job don't work here

Great Job
Working here provided me with great job experience. Management is helpful and understanding. This was also my first real job and improved my time management.

a great place to start your first job
A typical day at work is from 7 to 8 and it is a nice environment, with honest workers. I learned how to work a register, talk to all different kinds of people. If I would have stayed there I could have been a manager. The hardest part of the job is cleaning up at the end of the day because you are tired. the most enjoyable part is working with people and seeing a smile on their face whenever they leave.

Great team work between front of house and back of house
Each day you get to meet new people and work closely with your employees! Making sure to have great communication skills along with an understanding of everyones work space is important. It's a team work job!

Decent Employer
McAlister's is a staple for many people here in my town. I love the sandwiches and the baked potatoes so much!!! Here was another position where I put in the hard work and moved up the ranks quickly as well. I started in the back of house and eventually transferred to the front of house, where my personality won everyone over, including the customers!
ProsGreat Hours Room for Growth
ConsNo Breaks Short hours

Prep then go to my station work sandwiches and prep in meantime.
Learned a couple of recipes. General manager was great but his assistants were not, they didnt even know half the stations. i believe a manager should know all the stations of the store. Co workers were great. Hardest part of the job is all the doubles back to back. then they cut my break . i loved prepping it was very enjoyable to me.
Pros70% off of food

Adequate Work Environment for College Students
Flexible for college students, great learning opportunities for first job employees.
I have learned a lot working for McAlister's Deli. When i first started I was very shy and didn't speak to many people. As i learned what was expected of me, i began to adjust and become more vocal. Lunches are fun but sometimes stressful depending on who comes to work that day. Dinners tend to be more laid back because we carry more business at lunch. Everyone i have worked with, I've gotten along with. Everyone is close to your age which is convenient. I started out being the youngest, now i'm one of the older FOH employees. They look up to me now and come to my for advice about various things. The hardest part of the job is pleasing every customer. Somedays, you just can't, but i always try to keep each customer smiling and well taken care of. The most enjoyable part is knowing that if i can make one person's day better, then mine will end well also.
ProsFlexible hours for students. Willing to work with scheduling.

Good job for high school or college student
Good job for high school or college student. Room for growth and advancement in the company. Good hours with opportunities for raises. Not quite enough to comfortably support a family.

Mchellister
Probably one of the worst places to work at due to poor management and high demand of work, does not pay what the job requires and the GM have a lot of preference when it comes to women, to much i'd say to the point where it gets uncomfortable the flirting everywhere. very disgusting work place.
