Overall Reviews at Mathnasium

great staff and great kids I really like it
I come in and almost always there is a student to begin working with. You have to learn very quickly to recognize learning styles and adapt to them for optimal efficiency. We work as a group and in many instances as a single unit. The hardest part of the job is also the most enjoyable which are the students. Some students have more serious issues and require more attention this can cause a concentration of energy which makes less available for others. That can be stressful but its always satisfying.

Work Life Balance
I worked for the West Marietta location and I loved it. The start time was 11am, which is good for someone who doesn't get up in the morning. The owner was also generous with taking time off. Staff and students were great.
ProsFlexible time off, later start time
ConsNo benefits other than paid holidays

Decent job for a high school student. Overall, wouldnt recommend. The wages were terribly low, and the owner believed she could get away understaffed and underpayed employees by emphasizing how fortunate they are to have gotten a job here.

Excellent workplace for students
Mathnasium is the perfect place for students who need a flexible schedule while making some money on the side. The schedule flexibility for hardworking students is the main appeal to this job, and it provides a nice amount of hours without becoming too overwhelming. It also provides the opportunity to work with younger kids and improve communication skills overall.
ProsSchedule flexibility
ConsOnly open later in the day

Fantastic part time job. Difficult full time job
The job is incredible. Working with kids of all ages is fantastic. If you are a person who likes kids and math this is the job for you. The only problem is that because the hours are primarily after-school, it is difficult to work their full time. There are often only one or two employees who are full time there and there isn't much room for advancement.
ProsFun job, great co-workers
ConsHard to get hours

Great Job for College Students
Hours are flexible around a college schedule. Work is engaging and social, and keeps employees firm in basic mathematics skills. Math curriculum focusses on teaching concept rather than repetition, which is more enjoyable to teach.

Relaxed and enjoyable workplace
Everything about working at Mathnasium of New Tampa has been great. Management cares about their instructors, and regularly reward employees who stand out during the weeks. For a job that was initially just supposed to be a way to make money while going to school, I have gotten so much more with my time here.

It's tutoring and much more.
It's tutoring. You'll get to work with students on their math homework and projects and the Mathnasium created curriculum. That has ups and downs. Their parents are often quite grateful and appreciative of your help and the relationship you end up developing with their kid(s). The hourly rate of pay is fair and there are many opportunities to get more responsibility and recognition. There is a ceiling for how much you can grow.
ProsMostly our for summers and holidays, decent pay, easy work (if you're good at math), respectful management
ConsParents have high demands when it comes to their kids, and that goes for you too if you work with their kids.

Great starting environment but gets stressful sometimes
Every center is different so depending on your location, things may vary
Good sales and people skills are developed
Working M-T + Sat Sun is often strenuous
Answering emails that come in 24/7
Rarely any time off since you are basically the backbone of the center (sometime im afraid of taking sick days)
Staffing gets hard
ProsAfternoon to evening hours
ConsStaffing and scheduling
