Overall Reviews at Massage Envy

Worked at the Woodland Hills Location
The owner did not properly manage this specific location. Did not resolve customer issues in the right way. Also did not manage the loss of clients or therapists properly which resulted in a decline of business.

enjoyable work setting
A typical day at work would be a steady flow of clients coming in and out of the Spa, signing clients up for memberships with the spa, keeping lobby area neat and tidy, answering incoming and making outgoing calls.

Wouldn’t work here again
I wouldn’t work here again or recommend it. The pay is absolutely terrible and felt I had to break my back to barely make any money. Definitely a good place to work when new to the industry though.

If you’re an LE, don’t do the laundry
Work-life balance
Spa owners are so unpredictable- this location they ‘walked out’- left the company and employers hanging. Crazy but not untypical for this business. If you’re not ‘nice’ to girls up front, your tips are ‘lost’- cash left with them vanishes-
Pay & benefits
Cash tips left with front desk not ‘monitored’- you’re asked to do laundry, but don’t, you went to school to be an LE, not do laundry- you won’t get paid properly if your clocked in doing laundry bs servicing clients- THIS IS KEY!
Management
Individually owned - corporate doesn’t really back you up, just move on to another owned location.
Overall
Pay hourly changes based on doing laundry vs servicing clients. Crazy. Weekend only work- great if you have literally no life. Cash tips not monitored properly by front end personnel.

Great group of employees
Overall a great place to work. Open seven days a week with two shifts per day. Pay is middle of the road for the type of work.
Two week on the job training is required before regular shifts are scheduled. Experience in sales is definitely a plus

Poor Management
It is very busy but the management and the compensation was not great and they treated you like you not an asset to there company. There was a lot of drama.

Relaxation is for clients
Has its ups and downs. For every positive, there are 2 negatives. The manager is phenomenal and genuinely cares about her staff. The nature of the job is something unlike most other
'reception' positions.

barely productive
In the beginning it was great as anything you do that is new. After a couple of months I noticed how much the employees loved to gossip instead of work. Anything it seemed that was brought up was about negative things and negative attitudes almost daily. I began feeling like i'd rather be home than work. The management was good it could have been better I admit. Although management was good and handled things to best of our abilities the employees did not respect the management.

Worse establishment to work for
The management was horrible, and the spa lacked the proper tools to run efficiently. The location I worked at got broken into twice and my managers car got broken into as well.On one occasion the owners failed to report it to law enforcement. In order to replace the money in the drawer, the owners asked all of the employees for their bank information so that they can tranfer money for us to use.
