No growth unless...
The one and main company I know that encourages you to express your individuality. From your hair, to clothes, to makeup; you're able to fully embrace who you are. It is definitely a fun environment and you will gain a lot of experience since the job is very hands on. Although MAC is known for their trendsetting makeup looks, your main job is selling! You could be the best makeup artist but if you can't increase sales, you will get the boot! Let's not forget to mention, you could be a great seller, but if you are not favorited by RMs, SRMs, and trainers, you will stay a regular makeup artist for years.
If you are good at makeup, a decent seller, and an even better butt kisser, this is the job for you!

Great experiance
MAC provides the best business and management training. The downside is that it can have a very cult-like atmosphere and culture. I don't believe that HR always has the employees best interest.

Great company to expand your makeup skills and talents
Great company to work for to expand on your makeup artistry and talents. Retail is rough you must be flexible, willing to work Kong hours, receive minimal PTO approved request and be willing to meet and exceed sales goals. It’s a lot of hours in your feet.

So many great experiences at MAC. They truly groom and train people to be true industry professionals. The job is very demanding, but the benefits are among the best in the industry.

Fun and creative and ever changing artistic job environment working with up to date fashionable and visually creative staff. My position allowed me to travel to over 24 locations through the southeast including Bermuda learning and teaching with and through others kept my creative vision and productivity going strong. The hardest part of my job was traveling to so many locations and not getting to spend as much time with each artist.

Mostly retail sales and makeup appointments; customer satisfaction AND making sales goals are top priority; knowledge and full embracing of company culture is extremely important.
Cons:
Bad management & unfair promotions- decisions made, based off of favoritism instead of an unbiased evaluation and earning of a promotion; false advertising for wanting to help you grow in the company; no commission; terrible yearly pay increases; do not like to provide full time or benefits; hardest part of job- entitled and disrespectful customers; pressure and scare tactics from company into fearing for your job daily when not meeting sales goals in a dying business; (one that allows free makeovers and unlimited returns no matter the condition); overall unprofessional management and 'higher ups' in company; no social/work life balance (even as part-timer); a lot of unnecessary cattiness.

Great company to work for if you are mobile
I learned a great deal about makeup artistry and sales with MAC Cosmetics. The room for advancement within the company is great if you are willing to relocate. I am no longer mobile so I found it difficult to advance in a small market and needed to find a career that gave me more room for advancement.

Very good learning experiences, very well trained through MAC standards
Was a very fun atmosphere to work in. I've met and maintained very good friendships within my time working here. MAC was like a family, there was very good support, and provided excellent training. The standards of work ethic, and multitasking have set me to always achieve and work to the best of my abilities since this job.
