Low pay, email only contact with employer.
There was no way to speak to anyone directly with questions. All of the things they told us to look for as a shady operation were the ways they conducted their business.
On a monthly basis they would send out criticism of your work.
The only contact was through email. Sometimes emails would go days unanswered or not be answered at all.
In the beginning, they only paid a fraction of the time I'd spent working for them. They did not make it clear that they would only pay a very low amount for the initial amount of work that was required.
ProsNone
ConsOnly email contact with company, low pay for a LOT of work. Criticism with no positive feedback.

Interesting first job and remote.
Nothing in particular to add. It was my first job and I worked as an online task contributor, it greatly helped me, and I'm working towards having similar work. The schedule from pretty flexible and I could work whenever I could/wanted to or when there were tasks available. Though sometimes there were often none to where I didn't complete the minimum amount of hours they wanted.

Accurate
Great company to work for from home. Project managers are very efficient in communicating. Emails and questions answered in a timely manner. Transcription jobs are of good quality for the most part.
ProsWork from home.
ConsCan't project income or jobs coming in.

Flexibility of teleworking and choosing your own schedule
As a freelance interpreter at Lion Bridge, you have a lot of flexibility for choosing your own working days and hours. If you are a telephonic interpreter then you get to telework. The only caveat is that you must have a quiet place to work from. Any background noise is very distracting in this field. Even though you work from home, you are required to maintain a high level of professionalism when talking to a client.
ProsTelework
ConsNo fixed schedule

Good jumping off point
As one of my first positions post graduating it was a great experience. I was working with a good team on first lead development and then was able to transition into more online marketing related tasks.

Your Supervisors are always there for you
I love working as a Telephonic Interpreter for Lionbridge. The moment you log in you receive calls in the language your are skilled in and you start Interpreting. If there is a problem, just e-mail and the solution will be handled. Even though I work at home, I get dressed and am a professional when I put on my headset. I love helping and making a difference in someone's life.
ProsWork at Home
ConsPayment per minute could raise every year due to Interpreters performance and quality of work done

Overall cheap but fair company to work for.
The people you work with are very knowledgeable, but very busy.LB likes highly skilled people for cheap. If you're not willing to take a pay cut for your skills, look elsewhere.

Freelance Interpreter
As legal interpreter you work with several Federal government agencies. I work the days and hours I want the per minute rate is fair and when there is an issue you sent an email an someone will contact you quickly. The only problem now is because you work with Federal goverment as contractor even if your work is permanent remotely you have to follow goverment mandates.
ProsYou work your own schedule from home
ConsYou have to follow goverment mandates.

Opportunities to develop
Typical 9-5 job in front of a computer, but the office and workspace are very nice, spacious kitchens, chill room, nice coffee and fruit days. Management is friendly and easy to work with, everyone is very helpful.
