Used to be a great company but good leadership is diminishing.
This place used to be a great place to work, but constant organizational change causes unclear direction and stress of job security. They get ride of good talent to bring in cheaper.
ProsWork life balance, work at home, and great benefits.
ConsUnclear direction from leaders. Very little training in all aspects of the job.

Overall good company and benefits
Company promotes community involvement with 2 paid volunteer days a year. Benefits are good with 401k contributions. Job stability in some areas is better than others.
ProsRemote employee program; benefits; pro-active community involvement

Work very challenging dealing with legal data
Most days I knew what was on my plate. I learned many ways to find out how to do a process better. I learned how to communicate better using e-mail protocols. Management okay for some, but some should've never been given the management position. My co workers were good to work with except for one. (No comment) The hardest part of my job was learning how to do a new task from someone who never knew what they were doing and I suffered for it. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with good people who worked with you on anything and not leave you hanging. (No comment for that one particular employee) Also the most enjoyable part with my job is that we used to have fun!
ProsPeople bring pot luck food
ConsChanged benefits on us too often each year.

A good company at one time
At one time this was a good company to work for. However with the market changing and internet expanding, the business found itself in a situation where it could not compete. This resulted in significant companywide downsizing and restructuring of their business and focus.

Local culture was very draining due to the focus of constant cost reduction and staff reductions
Local culture was very draining due to the focus of constant cost reduction and staff reductions. Senior management was not reliable and didn't have a good grasp of the talent levels available within the Dayton area.

Mindless Cost Cutting & Poor Culture
I worked during one of the most tough period, as there was global redundancy and teams were being replaced on a weekly or monthly basis. Made it extremely hard to perform and drive growth. Still after performing for many years, my role was made redundant to cut costs and hire more people in Philippines. Learnt a lot working there and the people there were honest and hard workers but senior managers showed little support for the staff.

Questions And Answers about LexisNexis

Are there a lot of layoffs at Lexis Nexis? What is the average tenure of an employee?
Asked Aug 31, 2017
YES! Cost cutting is their only answer rather than trying to grow revenue. Sinking ship for years.
Answered Jun 15, 2021
Just laid off 40-70 people for "restructuring" due to "needs of the business". 7/2020
Answered Aug 19, 2020
Why did you leave your job at LexisNexis?
Asked Mar 28, 2017
LN has proudly stated there have been no pandemic related layoffs. They failed to mention the thousand American jobs sent to Manila because the company has been disgracefully managed. The top dogs continue lining their pockets for each job sent overseas. Even globally, LN continues sending all jobs to one country, the Philippines.
Answered Jul 29, 2020
Recently was laid off, July 7th, 2020!! The management is weird and very distanced from the operations employees! Mostly the upper management is living in a fantasy !
Answered Jul 22, 2020
What is the work environment and culture like at RELX Group?
Asked Nov 30, 2016
The culture for employees in the Philippines is fantastic!! The culture for US employees is tiring as most are standing in the unemployment line. Oh to have had a crystal ball a decade ago when Lexis started building offices in the Philippines. I certainly didn't realize thousands of US employees would lose their jobs.
Answered Jun 11, 2020
Leadership was a joke. Employees in Fulfillment were one angry group.
Answered Nov 28, 2019
What benefits does RELX Group offer?
Asked May 18, 2017
In lieu of a decent salary/annual raise...plus a scaled back 401K plan and skyrocketing health insurance premiums, our VP took us to a Reds game once every couple years. Ticket price 10 bucks...& we each received an whopping 10 bucks for food. Not much of a trade off was it? Oh but we did get a jaw dropping $25 Christmas Visa card to make up for our pitiful benefits. SMH....
Answered Oct 11, 2019
The pension credits, health ins, life ins, sick pay and most everything else is terrible. You'll never get more than 1-2% merit increase....unless you're an exec. They continue getting big bonuses (for sending as many jobs to Manila as possible). Sadly, the benefits were stellar 20 years ago. All the fresh faced newbies have no clue what a great company this used to be.
Answered Aug 18, 2019
How would you describe the pace of work at RELX Group?
Asked Dec 3, 2016
Just run away from LN as quickly as you can. All work is in Manila or heading there.
Answered Oct 7, 2020
The day-to-day work fluctuated (predictably) between extremely fast-paced and incredibly slow. I think it depends a great deal on the part of LN/department in which you're working. The pace changed with the time of year, current events, and although the pace of work varied, that was a predictable variety, and even at a fast pace, the work was most suited for those favoring predictability & sameness of routine every single day.
