Tire Technician | Bend, OR | Feb 13, 2020
Good
The services we offer help your tires do their job. Even the best tires won’t last as long without maintaining vehicle alignment and tire rotations. Furthermore, they won’t stop without brakes, steer correctly with worn steering components, roll as smoothly without proper balancing, or provide continuous road contact without an optimally performing suspension system.

Great customer service
Its a 9-6 position or 8-5, I worked the 9-6. The environment was rough, I had problems constantly with a coworker. I learned tire service and customer service on a large scale. My favorite part was learning how to perform new tasks.

Bad
Wasted 4 years of my life there. Management was god awful and just lazy. Could never get time off especially during the holidays. Management was taking time off monthly. I might get 1 week off a year. If I was lucky. Would constantly loose people and management wouldn’t hire their replacements. When it got slow they just sent you home.
ProsMoney that came from overtime
ConsHard on the body

As far as my personal experience there isn't a better place to work.
So much to list from training to travel. This company helps all their employees, personal or job related. Management is good ~ changed after Les Schwab passed. Culture is family ~ Hardest part of the job, can't think of any? Enjoyable part ~ LS PEOPLE

overall good place to work, experience learning,
Overall my experience at Les Schwab has been a good one. I learned a lot from my years in this career, from mechanic experience, to different levels of costumer service, to the operations of different types of equipment and tools. I have also learned how to work ins different weather environments, and continued learning the importance of perseverance and hard work.
Prosgood staff as well as management, bonus, retirement, insurance programs

I would take over all other tires shops and make them become Les Schwab.

Get rid of the dishonest managers
Answered Jul 15, 2020
How would you describe the pace of work at Les Schwab?
Asked May 31, 2017
Always running, if you’re caught slacking you’ll get sent home
Answered Aug 1, 2020
Fast pace no walking only jogging. Get things done right as fast as possible. Looks at detail and perfection
Answered Feb 14, 2019
When you get hired on at Les Schwab, is it true that you sign a contract saying you will not work at any other tire shops for 5 years?
Asked Mar 13, 2017
They do have a non compete clause in your hiring pack that you sign, and they will threaten you with letters from a local attorney.
Answered May 16, 2019
Its a no compete clause that is for a year. However nobody has been bothered by it. After you quit/ get fired last thing any les schwab manager cares about it how you farther provide for your family. I think its more directed to quiting and starting your own tire business

What is the most stressful part about working at Les Schwab?
Asked Dec 21, 2016
In spite of all the "Doing the right thing" and taking care of employees talk, at the end of the day it's all about making money...as much as a store can. Work longer, quote more, upsell, layoff...whatever it takes to drive maximize the bottom line.
Answered Jul 26, 2020
Management and other employees. Especially if you're a woman.

What are the best brand of boots to wear?
Asked Oct 29, 2017
Redback....hands down...nothing comes close. Light, comfortable and above all, durable. Takes years to wear through a pair.
Answered Jul 26, 2020
Keen boots are my favorite. The only steel toe shoe that my toes are comfortable in. just be careful to not buy any with cloth loops for the laces like what the Braddock have. The Keen Milwaukee model will be the next boot I get from Amazon for about $175. Well worth it for my foots comfort. This job is very hard on boots though so keep that in mind. I've been with the company for 6 years and boots last about 1 year at the most.
