Amazing job for any high school or college student
Kumon is very accommodating for any student trying to find a balance between work and school. Working at Kumon can be very rewarding for anyone looking to become a teacher or counselor for kids. Students are a pleasure to work with and management is very communicative. Kumon is a great first job if you meet the math and reading qualifications and have the patience and composure to work with students.

Great Company
Have thoroughly enjoyed every day since joining Kumon. Very limited stress and the company is truly focused on ensuring the well being of the customer instead of only on the bottom line.
A typical day at work would be organizing the students folders in alphabetical order before they come in. Each staff member would take two students at a time and grade their worksheets once they are finished with the student. Management is great and very fair. The hardest part of the job would be getting the students who gives a lot of trouble to learn. The most enjoyable part of the job would be the satisfaction you get helping that child learn.
Kumon has done nothing but made me feel comfortable and helped me open up to new technology and a new form of communication with children and adults. They also provided services with my personal life, made me want to come back and work for them.
This job is perfect for a high schooler looking for a part time job. You learn time management and tutoring skills. The management was a little unprofessional, but overall the workplace is easy going.
I would always be busy with grading homework and classwork. I would also be really busy working with the children on either their classwork or their homework.
The entire day would include grading papers or homework. I was only allowed to tutor the very young children while the older children had to wait for the person in charge. It was not a very efficient system which is why I believe this place is now closed for.
The three main jobs at Kumon are check-in, tutoring, grading, and assessment. A worker checks in the student and gives them the appropriate folders to work with. The student then sits down and does their assigned classwork with three tutors watching the students complete their work and answer questions. Upon completion of the work, the students turn in the work to the graders and correct any mistakes if needed. Once the classwork has been graded and corrected, the students go to an oral assessment table, where a tutor will ask them questions and the student has to answer them allow. Each student should take about 30 minutes to complete the process.
What I have learned thus far, and is certainty the hardest part of the job is to be a fast and efficient worker. As a grader, I have to be fast at grading their assignments because the graders are often where students bottleneck and wait for the work to be graded. In order to keep the flow of the work area, graders have to be quick about their jobs.
The most enjoyable part of the job, but also challenging, is being the tutor for the kids while they are doing the classwork. This is the time where I get to engage the students and really help them. The challege can often be the students being unmotivated, talktive, and lack focus while they do their job, therefore I have make sure they do stay on task, but at the same time, when they are happy that they were able to get the correct answer then that is that most enjoyable for b
ProsGood working environment and rewarding job tutoring kids
Habia mucho contacto con niños y adultos, esto debido a que se daban clases y se informaban a los padres el progreso, con el personal había una sana convivencia.
Fue una experiencia laboral agradable al desempeñarme como secretaria

Why did you leave your job at Kumon?
Asked Mar 28, 2017
Manager was super rude and bashed you if you had any family or medical emergencies and could not make it to work. Pay was super low ($8-$9). No socializing with coworkers was allowed otherwise you would be yelled at by the manager to focus on the work instead. No lunch breaks. No short 15 minute breaks. No drinks in the classroom (had to drink in the closet where they put homework packets in). Only got paid ONCE a month as if the pay is enough to live off of like a career. The micromanagement was not worth $8 an hour working 14 hours a week. No thanks.

Really bad management and very low pay. The pay was $10.50 and that is considered the city fee for minimum wage jobs.

How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at Kumon? What are the steps along the way?

Timing is everything. If they have a need, you will probably be hired if you are near the top of your class.
Answered Mar 2, 2019
Very quick. If the head teacher likes you, you will be interviewed and have to take a short quiz and then be hired within the next week.
