The USC Keck School of Medicine - Alzheimer Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI), located in San Diego, California is an academic institute comprised of an expert panel of scientific collaborators committed to advancing the development of new treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) through innovative clinical trials.
The Human Resource Assistant will be responsible for managing the staffing needs for approximately 150 faculty and staff. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Recruitment – creating and maintaining job requisitions, reviewing, and screening of job applicants, working closely with hiring managers in scheduling interviews and selecting qualified candidates. Knowledge and experience conducting outside applicant searches using various applicant recruiting tools such as LinkedIn and Indeed.
Processing new employee performance check-ins with managers.
Responsible for onboarding of new employees including working with IT department to set up equipment, setting up office space, and meeting with the employees to review university benefits and policies. Ensuring new employees are fully integrated into USC and ATRI.
Responsible for working with managers and IT on employee separations including conducting exit interviews, processing separations in HRIS, and collection of equipment.
Managing the bi-weekly timesheets including notices to ATRI staff, reviewing timesheets for submission and accuracy, and processing of manual checks when necessary.
Maintaining all department tracking logs as well as HR procedures and desk manual.
Assisting HR Manager with yearly performance evaluations.
Must have clear and professional communication skills to maintain working relationships with faculty members, managers, staff, and outside networks.
Serves as a main point of contact for all faculty, managers, and staff for employee related needs.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work within an environment with constant interruptions.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong motivation to achieve the departments goals.
Strive for continuous improvement to ensure ATRI faculty and staff are supported in the best possible manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
Staffing and/or recruiting experience.
Compensation is based on education and work experience.
Location: San Diego, CA with flexibility of remote work.
Minimum education - High school or equivalent Minimum experience - 1 year Minimum field of expertise - Skilled in payroll or personnel processing with knowledge of applicable regulations.
