Relaxed place of work
Journeys was a relaxed place to work, and was a cool place to work. Although, it is very slow paced and they need to find a better selection of staff. They will hire almost anyone.

Okay place to work
I worked for journeys for about 8 months and it was fun partially because I loved shoes and my discount and the environment but we did relatively nothing when the manager felt tired and slept in the back. Towards the end of my career there I was let go over the phone. I was an amazing seller, always went above and beyond selling shoes and picking up shifts all to be let go over the phone by a manger who would make me run the store when he was not around. It was an experience you can say. Very unprofessional we went through 4-5 different managers all got worst. I hope things have changed since then.

Retail Blast
One of the best companies I have ever worked for in sales. Corporation has all the tools to be a successful sales representative or leader. The education and leadership was great. My District Manager has to be the most outstanding person I have ever worked for in my working career. Advancement is definitely there if you want it.

Store management is good, but district management sucks
Both stores I worked at in district 48 the in store management was awesome. The district manager was unprofessional at times and was literally trying to find any excuse to fire me since I started working there. After almost 2 years working in the company he got his chance. I loved my job at every position I had, from seasonal pt up to co manager and back down to pt sales lead.

A bi-polar enviroment
In my experience as a retail associate, I realized that you can't trust a salesman, nor can you befriend them. Very self indulged individuals, set on being better than everyone and not minding getting someone removed that they feel is a threat. However, I did learn how to manage my time and how to talk to people in whatever mood they were in, to bring them up and smile. Which, in the long-run made my day a lot better. The hardest part about my workday was, organizing the shoes in order. It would take hours and sometimes days to organize the back room. Boxes, some empty some full, all over the place constantly, could make a sane person lose it. But, all in all it was a decent experience.
ProsSocial advancement.
ConsNo healthcare benefits.

it was okay
The managers were friendly but the environment is very fast paced and very very competitive . The sales goals really are stressful to accomplish when you start working .

Great if you're in highschool....
The turn-over in this place is really bad. When I was hired they had gone through 2 store managers and they just promoted the next person under and on down the line so really incompetent people were being promoted into management positions with hardly any retail backround (or this was their first job) and just run the place further into the ground.
There is also no real incentive to care about your job because even in the job description it includes receiving base pay plus commission. You actually receive minimum wage and all of your commission goes to the store manager.
The music is hardly decent. It was usually the cut-my-wrists-and-cry kinda sad stuff no one wants to listen to unless they're 13 and going through that awkward change over period.
Consunmotivated mouthy teenagers, commission is a lie( the boss makes money off of your sales, not you)

It’s a productive and fun environment, but a lot is expected out of the workers, and with no help, it’s hard.
I love it here, but i’ve been a manager for five months or so and out of those five months, i’ve had to do it all by myself for two and a half months and it’s tiring and exhausting when no help is available.
ProsFree shoes and shirts and trips
ConsStrict rules

Unorganized work place
Opportunities to advance within the company is fairly easy as long as you continue to show that you're doing your job. Management and staff was unorganized.
