Its okay
Good place to work, could be better. Pay is not equal. New people making more than seasoned employees. Communication lacks, managers cant give straight answers on protocols.
They work you to the bone. They don't care about you. People told me to get out while I can.
A typical day of work for me was getting there on time, and then labor work. Hard labor work. for me it was load operator. I took sometimes heavy battery books and put them onto the belt for hours at a time before my break. I had a back injury and wrist injury when I left 3 months later.
Management sucks here. I got hired on as someone who would do "special projects". I was told I was going to have an office space, laptop, and work on certain projects in the plant. Measuring stuff, and then turning it into 3D models. Basic Engineering things, stuff I did for my robotics in High School. That was why I got hired, 3 months into labor, after they pushed it off several times because of "unforeseen issues" I went into the office of the Head of IT at this facility and asked him straight what happened. He told me he doesn't know anymore, and that maybe 10 years down the line, we will see what it looks like, and that he wants me to work labor, be paid the same as a labor position, and be pulled in whenever he needed me to do special jobs. The other management did not know this. They all thought I was going into the office, because the management does not talk there. It was a mess. I quit that day after being so insulted that they used me, told me lies, and wanted to use me even further.
Do I recommend working there? It is an experience I will never forget, but honestly, that place sucks. If you want good money, after 3 months you can start earning good money, after you join the

Great place to work
loved it there. I worked for this company for over 23 years. It was a great place to work and benefits were awesome! Vacation, holiday, retirement, everything was great!
Great Market presence with too shallow a focus on strategy.
Johnson Controls has a tremendous presence in the industrial refrigeration market and however has a greater focus on cost reductions than strategy execution and growth. This culture has driven to lay-offs, budget spending freezes (at the cost of strategy and growth), ring freezes, travel freezes and generally tight controls on raises and advances to existing employees. This has led to supply chain issues regarding reliability, quality and relationship issues due to extended payments/non-payment and tough negotiations.
They say that the working people are really important, but in the practice they don't care about safety's or work conditions people. In the winter some areas are really cold and in the summer interior temps in some areas reach easyli 150 degrees due to that you get a self temp of more than 42 degrees and necessary to be there you've to drink 1/2 a gallon of water every hour.
A psychological test determined that it would help the company to promote me. And i was passed over because management picked who they liked better. Even though I had more experience and seniority
I enjoyed working with the people in the department I worked in. The project I was assigned to was interesting and team members were very helpful and engaged.

Entrepreneural Enterprise
You run your accounts like your own business. If you know technology and are an entrepreneur; this could be the job for you. The company sets minimum weekly expectation of number of face to face customer visits, face to face new prospects, number of proposals. You are responsible for building your own jobs, knowing the product line and advancing your jobs from initial site visits through to booked commitments through contracts.
You should have a history and strong knowledge of technology. A vast array of products are sold, so you need to know product line(s), infrastructure of each job to manage and build each job in several CRM systems. You have the flexibility to manage your day/week and are on your own in an entrepreneural way, yet held accountable to the company for productivity and booking smart business and advancing revenue weekly and monthly and quarterly production.

Questions And Answers about Johnson Controls
What advice would you give the CEO of Johnson Controls about how to improve it?
Asked Mar 13, 2017
The Engineering Manager at the Lubbock Texas plant is incompetent, and liar who employs every backhanded tactic in the book to protect his fragile position. The department and plant suffer greatly at the expense of having him there. The other JCI facilities may be better, but potential engineers considering employment at the Lubbock Texas plant should consider themselves warned.

What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Johnson Controls?
Asked Jul 28, 2018
Please it is a humble request, if you do hire someone, make sure you train them properly, making that one new employee sit with different old employees who are performing the same task but in a different way, makes it difficult for the new employees to understand and keep track on what they have learned from the previous person. They need to put their hands on to the keyboard, learn! And learn doesn't come with only 2 or 3 months, it takes years for people to learn, they make mistakes but correct them. There were employees sitting in JC for more than 10 years, that's how they grew in that company as well, not on the judgement of work progress from past 2 or 3 months while they were new in the company
