The culture at JCP is horrible, all lead by terrible leadership. They force you to work 15 plus hours a day or threaten to hire someone to replace you.
ProsNone
ConsOverwork, low pay, bad management, lazy people just waiting to retire

Fun place to work, great people
As it goes through transformation, it is a fast speed, challenging environment to work in. Unfortunately not sure if the company will be around due to COVID-19 impacts to sales and Stores being closed.

Company is good
I have enjoyed working at J C Penney . I like customer service serving people with passion. I win people trust easily therefore people. always were looking for me to buy more jewelry.
Only one thing I didn’t like was that sometime customers put things on hold so they can bring cash , Other employees sell that hold to someone else . My customer come with money later in week as promised the item is not there got sold to someone else. My customer get disappointed
ProsFree lunches
ConsShort breaks

If it was your first job then only consider it as such
Selfish management that all that you going to experience you going to work like a machine and they would be happy with you while you gain nothing only smile and mention if you ask them about a raise, that they promise they will tell you the company is going through hardship and they are losing money so just wait for the next period.
Prosgood for first time getting job Experience
ConsEverything else

A good place to work if you are in school and just want to start off for Experience.
If you’re in school and looking to just make a little bit of money to make it while being supported from another main source this is a good place to start. The pay isn’t that great, but you get enough to at least save and make it by. The managers were okay, a bit lazy, however. The employees were okay as well. Like any job, you’ll have your favorites. The building was old, so a lot of mold and rust everywhere. You will get experience working here, however. You’ll have a chance to slowly build clientele as well, but again, the pay and managers aren’t that great, so don’t expect much, but experience from working here

My experience overall was poor.
Morale is very low company wide. Emphasis on diversity has resulted in discrimination against traditional American workers. Large store closings will be announced next Spring.

Serving customers daily
Cashing out customers at a fast pace. Asking them if they found everything they were looking for or if they had any questions about anything. When not on the register, I would recover on the floor.
