Laughably bad
My years at JB HIFI were among some of the worst of my working life. No leadership. No training. Job culture is fine because the people you're working with are usually pretty solid folk. JB works on an incredibly tedious budget system that essentially means you need to be doing upwards of 10% more sales than last year - the issue being that foot traffic in most store is down 20-30%. So to keep your job you're required to somehow sells thousands of dollars of stock to customers who do not exist. I mustve seen 20-30 people come and go in my time with the company, simply because the company refuses to see that retail as whole, in on the brink of collapse.
Prosno uniform, good culture in store

Generally productive placce to work with a good atmosphere
Most days were minimal in terms of work, spreading the work you had across the day was a good way to make sure you had something to do the whole day. The other staff members were very friendly and always willing to help each other out.

Australia's Leading Electronics Retailer
Genuinely a casual and entertaining work environment to work in. Be aware you will be held to sales targets if you are on the floor and depending on your geographic and demographic location this can affect you. Exciting products, new and trendy items for you to pair with customer's needs.
Prosnew, hip, casual, entertaining
Conssometimes unrealistic demands, management

It's mostly what you make of it, know when to move on.
Great people, good brand. Little training and very minimal opportunity to advance and increase skills. Systems and processes are improving but not to where they should be for a company of it's profile. Great experience in dealing with all types of people.

Good People to work with but prefer younger crowd
Relatively easy place to work if you know your gadgets & telco plans. They're happy to share their knowledge & practises. Management very approachable & easy to get along with. Staff are mostly young kids but very knowledgeable & easy to get along with. Very difficult for advancement unless your a Top Gun Salesperson & young !
ProsStaff Discounts
ConsUnrealistic Budgets for country areas like cities

Fun and productive, great management and work environment.
Shifts are usually in half-days (8 hour shifts) with 2-3 breaks. Valuable skills and concepts learned include staff team communication, customer communication, time management on a daily basis, merchandising and the value of stock knowledge. The management team at the store I worked in was fantastic, applying appropriate pressure to staff members to keep everyone motivated whilst achieving, and surpassing, designated goals. Similar to the management team, co-workers are all friendly, helpful but diligent. The most difficult yet satisfying part of the job is juggling tasks with other co-workers. Since nearly everybody is capable of each task, helping and being helped is a daily occurrence. This approach (if applicable) is great because it helps maintain the working fluidity of the staff.
ProsStaff discounts!
ConsStock database inconsistencies

Good Benefits but difficult to move ahead
The benefits of the job are good, with the staff discount but as a casual it is difficult to get by with the few shifts and it is difficult to be moved up to a part-time position.
