Technical Support Representative |
Trenton, TN | Mar 25, 2020
Fully remote working from home. Good internet and computer a must.
This is a seasonal tax job supporting the technical needs of the tax professionals not the clients. The hardest part of the job was understanding the tax language. I do not do my own taxes. The training was comprehensive and well done making me feel prepared. Searching the data base for solutions took a bit to get used to. My support came from a chat room that had multiple supervisors on hand to help if I needed it, All in all I would recommend this position to others and if the situation permits I intend to apply again next season.

While seasonal. Tax prep is a rewarding experience.
The franchise owners are very dynamic and create an inviting and supportive environment. Training begins mid summer to provide returning preparers time to review tax law and learn about upcoming changes to the 1040 process.
As season begins I an confident in my training

Plenty of help and possitivity from my coworkers and management. Good place to start learning how to troubleshoot.
A great place to start earning experience as a TIer 1. There are lots of opportunities to ask questions and get feedback from coworkers and management alike to learn the tricks of the trade. My work was pretty straight forward and was able to get assistance when needed. The pay was fair for the job that I performed and if needed, OT was readily available. Management was supportive and flexible to create a positive workplace culture. My favorite part of the day was solving printer problems and setting up workgroup networks. The hardest part of the job was answering questions about companies I did not work for. Overall, my experience was enjoyable and will hope to work here again when the new season starts.

ProsGood training and support, you can advance as fast as you want based on abilities

Very low hourly pay.
South San Diego tax preparer training started at $14.00 then $15.00 working alone as a full tax preparer. My work was poorly value in terms compensation. Franchises pay differently, my experience in terms of pay was not good.
ProsJackson Hewitt in general is a good company.
ConsWork was not fairly paid.
