Overall Reviews at J.B. Hunt
2.0
Old company was grest but a lot of unstableness now
In the old days, JB Hunt was a place where every one worked very hard together and we succeeded together. Changes in IT mgmt in the last few years have left the company unstable, in my opinion. Saw quite a few good people fired, multiple changes of direction in key company development projects resulting in tons of wasted effort. Lack of respect by IT for great business leaders upon whose insight our company was built. In my last team, I had to aggressively fight on a regular basis to try to ensure that my customers needs were met... not the kind of work environment I want to be in at all. There are still some great leaders and some great people in at JB Hunt, but overall, as a company. they lost my trust.
ProsCutting edge technology, good pay, some great people
ConsLack of transparency, job insecurity, confrontstional environment (on some teams)

Low pay
Good place to work if you have a good manager, but some of them are micromanagers which makes the job miserable. Pay is unfortunately pretty low. Facilities are nice, different restaurants bring food daily, gym, etc.

Great Company to work with
They value for their employees and great work life balance. A lot of growth opportunities within the company and makes us feel like a family. Lot of learning opportunities.

Work/life balance here is very flexible.
They do have a very liberal time off program and you can manage your/work/life schedule rather easily. Technology is the achilles heel here, as our systems are always slow and work properly seldomly.
ProsFree coffee, flexible
ConsComputer apps, archaic software

Good but could be better??
Overall its a super easy job. Hours are long but get more days off which is one of the best things. Not alot of room to grow. Pay is average. Management wants you to succeed. Lots of new policies.....

a day at jb hunt
typical day starts out pretty busy. hardest part of job is dealing with people that dont know how to do theirs efficiently and productively. i get all work done within about 4 hours.

Not a happy enviroment
Would never work there again. Forced to work when tired or sick. Family does NOT matter. Left to sit on side of road for 12 hours or more waiting for road service. Company as a whole is sneaky and undermining. Team leaders care about the employees at first but when discovered they get reprimanded and have to stop or get fired.

Great place to start a career
J.B. Hunt is a good place to work and start or career or to jump start another. They will take the time to train in new positions.

Corporate is great
*** The interactions I had with the corporate office were great.
*** The hardiest part is the each manager has the capability to make the changes in pay style they choose. So when there is a change in manager it is as though you changed the company you work for.
*** I learned so much about the freight industry that I had never known about.
ProsGreat people to work with
ConsNot knowing the motives of your managers

Great place to work, great culture.
In my role within ICS (Integrated Capacity Solutions) I am tasked with procuring capacity for multiple accounts and providing excellent communication on driver eta's and ensuring on time delivery of customers freight. The atmosphere is great, however; during slower seasons within the freight market may have you sitting idle. Atmosphere is great, a lot of younger people tend to work the brokerage division at J.B. Hunt. You can regularly see people throwing darts at each other, tossing footballs. Teams coordinate potlucks.
ProsLots of freedom within your role. Good benefits.
ConsManagement is very hands off. Advancement is slow. Compensation is not great.
