It is a Great Source of Side Income
If you are looking for a side job, I would recommend this one. If you are a busy person, you can work for 5 hours teaching kids the most valuable language in the world. I recommend iTutorGroup for the flexibility and meaning it adds to my life.

The company doesn’t treat you well
The company doesn’t treat you well, they just treat you as a number. Whenever you have a serious question it seems like they don’t even care. Look elsewhere.

Don’t work for these people.
That’s just about it. Don’t work for them. They don’t answer your emails ever. You won’t get paid as much as they tell you and that’s a guarantee. Not a good place
ProsNone.

Not worth it
I started working here thinking that I would have plenty of opportunity for growth and I was very wrong. You barely have enough hours to teach and when you do teach students ratings can have a huge effect on your pay. Most students gave good ratings but students would dock you because too many students were in one class (which we had no control over). Pay was low and there were no days off. I definitely believe this company needs a complete makeover.

great flexible hours
this gives you the ability to work from any where in the world with a good internet connection plus the hours you want :) They are early Ams or late PMS but you can work from home or where ever you are. Their policies are from Taiwan and China, not western/us/Canada culture, so be prepared for that. They are strict in their attendance so you cannot skip classes.

Low pay and poor technology
Pay for 45 minute adult class is $7.50. You can get more if students rate, but most students do not rate. If you get a low rating, iTutorGroup actually DEDUCTS money from the session. Teachers are given 120 seconds between classes. If class goes over even a little, you are doomed. The platform is slow, which eats up about 30-45 seconds.
Proswork from home
Consslow technology makes attendance difficult

Productive and great online work
Online work that allows you to set your own hours and work unsupervised. So a great deal of organisational skills are required as well as patience and effective communication.

I love this company!
iTutorgroup is an amazing company to work for. The students are amazing and you get to work with all ages. There are secondary positions available which is great for teachers in the US to work during the day. My emails are always answered promptly. Pay is good. I love this company.

Feels like I am employed by robots
The employers/people in charge don't treat you like humans. They promise high pay potential but never actually offer it. On average, I am paid far BELOW the minimum wage.

You get out what you put in
Many accept the salary and hours and then go to complain about just these!! There are obviously no travel costs to consider and the longer you are with the company, the more your salary grows. They do seem to take care of committed employees and there are chances to progress with the company if you wish. the tutor reps are good and help you if needed.
ProsWorking from home, flexible cancellations without penalty
ConsCultural differences can lead to miscommunication

Very stressful . Always changing the rules. For a time we had to wear a white shirt the a red one .
I think ITuror Group are a terrible company to work for. They make you wear a red t shirt. They are always introducing new activities and threatening you that you will be fired if you do this or don't do that. The tutor department is the worst. They calculate the class rating on about 6 hours teaching which means if you get one rating below 7 they suspend you as the percentage shows up higher than if they calculated it on more hours teaching. I felt the tutors in the teaching department were a bit racist towards me because I was older and blond. Their training is inadequate and really is a joke. They pay very little money. 10 euros an hour. They introduce new technology but there is no one in their company qualified to explain it to the consultants yet they expect people to use it. I feel upset and cheated by ITutorGroup. The clients were really nice people and I am glad I got to teach them for a time.

Productive and reliable with payment
Every company has their downside but I tend to only look at the positive sides of things, hence I'd say iTutorGroup is not a bad company to work with.

It is overall an okay place to work
I enjoy my interaction with the students. I find it difficult to get responses to many questions although it is getting better. IN the beginning there was an abundance of work things have slowed tremendously. Many times students want one on one attention in a class full of 6 people which is difficult. Training could be more extensive. . I think this type of learning is a great idea but there are a few kinks to be worked out.
Prosconvenience of being home.

Fun and Educational
Its exactually very exciting doing educational online tutoring and teaching 2nd language English to Asian students. The teaching hours are not easy as the timing between South Africa and Taiwan are miles apart. I enjoyed the teaching and tutoring foreign students.

Flexible working hours
Consultants can cancel a session an hour before the start time with no penalty. We can ask for leave anytime we want, and for as how long as we want without being terminated. The management is very supportive and friendly.

Questions And Answers about iTutorGroup

How many classes would you need to teach per month to make the $900 salary figure?
Asked Oct 13, 2016
In order for you to make $900/ month, you need to work everyday of that month, 8-10 sessions a day, no days off .
Answered Sep 26, 2020
Both a 25-min class AND a 45-min class pay $7. If students rate you below a 7, they will take money from you actually.
Answered Jul 24, 2019
If you were in charge, what would you do to make iTutorGroup a better place to work?
Asked Aug 9, 2018
There is one thing, train new teachers on arriving on time to class, how to get into class, and to cancel if you cannot make it ahead of time.
Answered Oct 1, 2020
I would give everyone the same salary regardless of their location. Once everyone is qualified, they would be paid the same thing and receive the same benefits
Answered Sep 28, 2020
How often do raises occur at iTutorGroup?
Asked Sep 21, 2016
No raises or appreciation for the many hours you put in teaching for peanuts. Ive been there 2 years and have asked for a raise every year and get turned down every year. They tried to get me to sign a new contract that would pay me even LESS than I make now. They should be ashamed of themselves! The students pay sooooo much money for those lessons, and us teachers get paid slave labor. RUN!!
Answered Jul 26, 2020
I've been pleased with the opportunities for bonuses. So even though I don't think a raise is coming, I've made $500+ on some paychecks, just for showing up and doing my best during the hours I choose. There are different types of lessons you can train to teach, and some have great bonus structures attached to them. You'll always get your base pay, regardless, but I've consistently made far more, and it wasn't really difficult.

On average, how many hours do you work a day at iTutorGroup?
Asked Jul 4, 2017
You determine your schedule... Work as many or as little hours as you desire.
Answered Dec 29, 2018
I am committed to 10 hours a week, and I break it up into 2 hours, 5 days a week. (I take Wednesday and Thursday off). But then it's super easy to add hours on whenever I want. For example, when I have a day off from teaching in my public school, I will book a lot of extra hours for that day with iTG.
