Overall Reviews at Intertek

Management makes this company shine
I have worked for Intertek for 10 years at multiple offices; primarily at the Mobile, AL and Hawaii offices. The field work is rewarding and never monotonous because of the variety of jobs and locations you will work at. The hours can be crazy, and as a field inspector, a schedule is non-existent; but they pay you well to compensate that. The advancement opportunities depend on your location, and your desire to move if a position opens up at another office. But where Intertek really shines is the way they take care of employees. My family and I were treated like we were part of my Branch Manager’s family, and that feeling must have extended all the way to corporate, because they patiently waited for my return when my family went thru a catastrophic event. I’m getting out of the field and moving on, but if I ever return, Intertek would be my company of choice.
ProsCaring management, great pay, benefits
ConsNo schedule for field inspectors

Innovative and results oriented culture
INTERTEK Is a very team's centered matrixed organization. I am happy to be thriving -8 years in... Still new things for me to learn. There Is plenty of growth opportunity for a self driven manager.

I have definitely had worse jobs.
The company that originally hired me was bought out by Intertek in 2012. They were and excellent company to work for. Kept me in good raises and overtime the whole way through the recession. Intertek has been good for the most part. We still have very good benefits, but our pay lags behind the industry average a bit, and we deal with all of the red tape and bureaucratic policies of the large corporate entity now.

If your not part of the "in" crowd your nothing
way to many managers. not enough clear leadership, its everyone for themselves here. they hide from the truth. if you a minority your in, even if you can not do the task at hand.

Semi-far to work for
They paid close to minimum wage. The people were friendly to work with. The management was distant. They laid off frequently. It was based on the contracts they won or lost.
ProsFriendly co-workers
Conslow pay, not sure if you would have a job or not.

Weirdest job culture ever experienced
Everyone hates working there. There is little to no opportunity for advancement. I was advised by my boss that they were a "flat organization", meaning everybody does the same work and pay, without ever recognizing individual strengths.
