If you’d like aggravation all day long while you’re working work for instar | Raleigh, NC | May 23, 2020
They will make you pull your hair out
If you’d like aggravation all day long while you’re working go and work for Instacart. Customers will bait you with a big tip and then they’ll take it away 2 days later if you don’t have everything on their order. Orders will be canceled when you’re in the grocery store shopping and you won’t get paid for it. You can spend up to two hours pulling groceries and only get 7dollars And then have to deliver them 20 milesmiles a way

Fun being able to work independently and at my own pace
You just go on there easy to use app, pick out orders, and go shop for them. Once you have them picked up, then send you an address to deliver them too. Very easy work

I work when I want.
The pay is absolutely horrible and the batches are so time consuming it's almost not even worth it. The base pay/what instacart pays people definitely need to be raised.

Terrible company to work for
Discrimination towards males . Definitely plays favorites , nobody’s job is safe besides management. It’s all a lie . Only good thing were the snacks , everything else 100% sucks

Okay Job
The Atlanta location is okay. You have to be open to change. There is a lot of micro-management. It does not follow the attendance policy. Training lasts 2-3 weeks, and some things are uncertain. The pay is $16.00hr.

Great side hustle
Way too stressful to maintain full-time long-term but great in a pinch. Rating system is not the best and not explained well to customers which causes customers to rate ineffectivelu and cause you to lose high pay batches for noyl reason
ProsFlexibility, great tip possibility
ConsUncertain longevity

Shady Business
They lure you in with decent pay at first but after over hiring they start to weed out people by paying less and less and keeping the people who are desperate enough to take jobs for less then they should. They constantly say they care about their employees for the PR but truth is they couldn't care less. An acceptance rate of 100% is guaranteed to net less then minimum. They want you to accept orders at a rate of a full time employment while only paying you per contract as a 1099. They want to have their cake and eat it too, and for you to pay for it. Its deplorable and I rue the day that they get exposed for their shady business practices such as these and tip stealing.

deactivation
They deactivate you after few mistakes, but several great reviews. Prior to being deactivated I loved working for this company. I loved my freedom to work my own set schedule and to choose how much I wanted to make daily.

No longer hiring in this area
They outsourced all entry level positions to other countries. This was a contracted position, and the contract had expired for the local area. No position currently exists.

Very fixable working hours
Great as a survival job. Don't expect to earn a lot but it's great for a temporary or an extra income. They used to pay fair amount of payments when I first started working in October, 2018. However, a lot of payment strategies have changed since December 10, 2018 which is way less then before.

Great Environment
My experience with Instacart was very good. I was trained well and I manage to learn a lot from this job. The management was good as well. Workplace culture was also a fun part of the job.

Questions And Answers about Instacart

If you were to leave Instacart, what would be the reason?
Asked Mar 16, 2017
The brutal and harsh rating system with no good reason behind it.
Answered Dec 15, 2021
They're are places that require you to pay for parking and don't have street parking. They don't reimburse you a single dime and say it's on you to pay. Paking can be 6 bucks and the batch would only be 10. This is crazy and they should state that before you accept an order, wasting gas and time, plus being forced to pay for the parking.
Answered Aug 10, 2021
How many hours do you have to work to get about $300?
Asked Oct 25, 2016
It depends on your score from day to day and your internet capability to get good batches. It can vary from morning to $300 plus.
Answered Dec 15, 2021
I worked about 30 hrs for the week and made a little over 1400 dollars.
Answered Apr 18, 2021
What would you suggest Instacart management do to prevent others from leaving?
Asked Mar 16, 2017
Change the rating system so it is fair and pay $7 per order on the batches. Be fair! Protect your amazing shoppers!
Answered Dec 15, 2021
Add one minute PER CUSTOMER CHANGE to the shopper's allocated time. There have been times I've done a shopping trip in 35 minutes and then lost 15 more in last-minute changes just as I go to checkout. Every customer change should give us an extra minute to compensate for having to run back across an entire store.

Can you bring your child(ren) with you when you go shopping and delivering?
Asked Aug 18, 2017
I have brought my children with me when I did my instacart shopping. When my 6 yr old dad was working & I needed the money what was I do. She's helped me shop in the store & delivered. I had a customer who ordered 8 cases of water, 2 cases of pop, 36 cans of juice and some other item and lived on the 2nd floor She got a tip from another customer & I paid her she was so happy to make her own money. It teaches them work ethic, responsibility, & compassion for others.
Answered Sep 2, 2021
So while considering "applying" on their homepage they literally have a shopper there with a child shopping you can tell because of the child is handing them groceries. I would think allowing you to bring your children would make this an even better job for those who can't work without their children. Allows more people to shop.
Answered Aug 13, 2021
How does instacart pay employees? A check or direct deposit? Do they get paid weekly?
Asked May 9, 2016
You have the option to get paid instantly and can get your tips you make for the day after 24 hours however, you do have to complete 5 batches first (one batch can have multiple orders). Whatever you don't cash out will be directly deposited into your account and takes 1 to 3 business days for processing (normal time frame). You can view how many batches you have done by scrolling to the bottom of the payments page and clicking on the weeks. Once you hit five it will turn the instant cash out button from gray to green.
Answered Mar 23, 2021
They always when you first start won’t allow you to cash out early until you complete your first 5 batches. They don’t even tell you how many batches you have already done. So I have no idea if you do two orders in one if that counts as two or one. They also only let you cash out your instacart payment not your tips. :/
