Never again
Working at House of Fraser Jenners put me off working in retail for life. Management spoke to all employees as if they were children and watched us constantly waiting to pounce and find something to complain about (often stupid things that are actually not focused on in concessions. All employees are on different contracts and no two people receive the same pay. I’ve never felt so embarrassed to say that I’ve worked somewhere. Customers repeatedly complained about the way the shop worked but HoF insisted that the way they worked was what customers liked and kept stupid rules such as “there can never be anyone standing at a till”. This job kept me awake with dread each night before a shift. I wouldn’t put my worst enemy through being employed here.
ProsCheap-ish lunch in cafe
ConsLong hours, bad management, company was a mess and customers constantly (and rightfully) complained frequently

I wouldn't recommend
House of Fraser was very much a typical corporate company with money being of the most importance with very little care for their employees. There was a clear divide between management and other employees.

Poor communication
I started working for HoF about a few months before the news of how badly the stores were doing energy public. And since then the communication between managers and staff is appalling. I’ve had to relay in customers and news articles to know if and when my HoF is closing down. The managers is rude and incompetent and only care about looking stylish. The staff are losing morale but the managers are to busy trying out clothes to notice. And now they are hiring new staff at only 4 hour contracts at below the national living wage and getting away with it because people are too afraid to say something Now they have star
Pros20% staff benefit of institutional and online including sale

Productive
It was productive. Sometimes and a long hours. You learn a lot of new things but you don’t receive much training so you kind of have to figure it out.;

Terrible Company to work for
I worked here during the Christmas period in 2017, part time as I was undertaking my degree. Management at HOF has to be the worst I've experienced, I was treated appallingly and was driven out of my job position. I left as I had been bullied by staff with a high level of authority, at the High Wycombe branch. Under no circumstances would I ever consider working there again, nor would I recommend others to do so. The experience put me off working within retail.
ProsNone whatsoever
ConsRude & disgusting treatment from female management

Most horrific place I've worked
I've never worked somewhere that I've hated as much in my life, the way they treat there staff is ridiculous and don't listen to what their staff need! The way they treated some of my colleagues under certain circumstances was unbelievable disgusting!!

Challenging
During my time I was able to independently work alone and gain managerial experience. Being able to use my initiative in dealing with customer queries/complaints, coming up with ways to boost product sales have allowed me to gain new skills and given me the ability to work well under extreme pressure.
ProsGood working enviroment
Consworking within a department store under a separate company

Would rather walk on glass.
Do not bother with this joke of a place... No wonder it keeps failing.. They make up any old rubbish to get you in then treat you like your worth absolutely nothing in life... Your life is basically taken away from you... Management are nothing more then a joke.. Heads to far up there own back sides.. Have no experience at all and think they can speak down to you.... Manchester your a joke.

Company to work for!
I found Guerlain a very professional and one of the best establish Cosmetic Company and representing it as Account Mng is challenging and motivating every day. As a Concession at House of Fraser high standards are expected and truly delivered. I enjoy friendly work environment and support from Management. Good Friends
My typical day at work starts at 7am and usually on monday first thing to do is printing reports from the last week and prepare picking lists for the transfers and recalls for the next week, of course every morning we have to clean the work area. Then I have to pick up supplies, prepare for shipment to customers, sometimes we are helping to do banking. I expanded my knowledge of office work, improved knowledge of English, the hardest thing about working is that when managers, require too much at the same time besides, anything is possible. The most enjoyable part of the job is to work with wonderful people and most of them are good friends. As well every day I learn something new, but slowly approaching the limit after which nothing new I will not be able to give of themselves and nothing from the company I do not earn.

Surely it was good, productive and fun workplace
Surely it was productive and fun workplace. The Management is good business but they have to Organise or care much about the workers. Like open live Restaurant just affordable to the workers, during break they can eat and try to know your Colleagues, it's create a unite, strong Team work. The workers was so kind, but your on own. I don't understand the workplace culture because I did not work much Working in House of Fraser was very good and as beauty Adviser is enjoyable.
ProsRestaurant for workers that create unite
ConsIs not problem long or part time
