Great job
It was a great job, the people were amazing, and the work area was amazing as well. Although it does have much of a high school vibe to it defiantly not a professional job.

Productive and fun environment with FREE MOVIES!!!!!
A typical day is working many jobs and sometimes in one day. Usher was cleaning theaters, cleaning up restrooms, assisting guest to their theater, and lobby usher which was restocking the condiment stands. Door consisted of Greeting Guests, accepting their tickets, answering guest questions such as movie times and directing them to their appropriate theater. Concession consisted of selling food items, upselling food items, making food products, serving drinks, and assembling food product boxes, or carrying trays also known as brown boxes. Lastly Box is selling tickets, distributing 3D glasses, distribute movie tickets, popcorn vouchers, and selling Harkins products or movie gear which can also be accomplished at concessions. I learned how to work as a team and to work with different types of people of all ages, and personalities. You also learn to work individually. You learn time management skills, and organizational skills. Management was awesome, especially balancing between guest concerns and other employee situations. The co-workers I had worked with were good at their jobs and knew or learned what team work was all about. There was always help if you needed it. The hardest part of the job, I'd say is dealing with discarded food items with a straight face. Lastly working a double shift was hard personally challenging on my feet. The enjoyable part of my job was getting free popcorn, for a short time soda, and free movies was awesome. I also loved working a
ProsOn the job free pop corn, sometimes soda, and movie preivlages.
ConsNo health benefits as a Team Member. Team Members I feel job is rarely/not dangerous at all, makes sence.

Good first job
A typical day at Harkins was cleaning or helping guests buy food or their movie tickets. I learned a lot about customer service and how to deal with rude customers. The management there was really disorganized and I believe we had way too many Managers for one theater. My co-workers were really cool for the most part, other than the few that tried to start drama. The hardest part of my job was dealing with the rude customers, which I eventually learned how to deal with. The most enjoyable part of the job was the free movies and some of the really cool and helpful co-workers I had.
ProsFree popcorn and drinks while on break, free movies, and helpful co-workers.
ConsNot enough hours because of too many employees.

Questions And Answers about Harkins Theatres

How did you get your first interview at Harkins Theatres?
Asked Jun 17, 2016
I applied on their website back in April, and I got an email from the senior manager to schedule a phone interview.
Answered Jun 17, 2021
I submitted an online application then got a call not long after from one of the managers for a phone screening and to schedule an interview date. I recommend filling out an application in-person, though, because you can have a better first impression on your future managers and meet your potential coworkers. I would've done that if I knew Harkins had paper applications.

How are the working hours at Harkins Theatres?
Asked Jun 27, 2016
My working hours at the very start were not the greatest. If you are in school your hours are due to be limited just due to your education hours. For me, since I am not in school anymore, I get roughly 35-37 hours weekly, but I also will stay longer if needed and I am very willing to take on extra shifts.
Answered Aug 18, 2019
Low the schedule is divided to everyone and no selection is allowed.

Since I work in the PlayCenter I can't really speak for the theatre side, but the other PlayCenter employees have all been incredibly kind to me since I got hired. Everyone seems to be down-to-earth and fun to work with so far!
