Horrible company
Hallcon took over our bus company. it was a disaster. they cut staff benefits. we we worked with union drivers who basiclly used the staff as punching bags. middle management has a high turnover rate. upper management is aloof, unapproachable, dismissive and completely devoid of decency. i would recommend that anyone not take employment in this sweat shop.

Supporting employees in all areas
Most of the management was incredible! They cross-trained and made sure everyone understood everything. They took the time to do it right! They obeyed all laws with a fair and consistent treatment to all parties involved. They did not compromise integrity and took all complaints or accusations very seriously. Investigated all reports to find the truth and correct the problem.
Prosgreat management
Constoo much seperation between departments. i.e. hr did not associate much with accoutning

Shuttle Driver | Pueblo, CO | Sep 12, 2019
this was an all call postion
This was a on call position which required to be on call 24/7 this was a very serious on call position. If it was blistering hot or very cold you were required to stay in the vehicle, on rare occasions you could go into the train station with the railroad workers. Sometime the door required a pin to open it. This was the worst job I have ever had, and the pay was lousy considering what you had to go through in the work environment. unless your desperate I wouldn't advises.
Prosthere were no pro the supervisor was a jerk and very unprofessional
Consthey told me i could come back at any time if thats even a con

Long Haul Driver | Lenexa, KS | Aug 18, 2018
Driving Railroad Crews
When I worked there the pay was extremely low, near minimum wage when all was done and said. Always on call 24/7 after some minimum hours after a particular work shift. No pay for driver shuttles. Sometimes the railroad crews and other drivers were not your friends; you never know what to expect next but they were generally OK.
ProsIts a job, you learn all about appropriate precautions around the railroad.
ConsVariable hours, low pay, long periods of time sitting in the vehicle waiting.

Driving is a joy
Did not like taking a nap on the side of the road , but adapted to it , Hardest thing that I had to do was rotating shifts.
Prosdriving as usual
ConsHad a family emergency and had to take off work for a couple of days, and the company thought I abbandoned my job, Which I did not

Sick Joke
Over all its a easy job. Driver crew members 24/7 hours. Crew members can be really cool. A very small % are REALLY low class people. You only get paid when Loged in. While waiting to go to work or stand by you don't get paid.
ConsMiddle of the night or 24/7

What is the work environment and culture like at HALLCON?
Asked Jun 19, 2016
The railroad crews are amazing, and some don't even acknowledge your existence. The overall environment is pretty good especially because you don't have to deal with a lot of people like you would at another job. The company says "The driver's safety and safety of others is most important" but its not. If you hit something they put you on a hold to where you can't be put back on the board which means you're not getting called for trips which means you aren't making any money. They say on a recording every time you start your trip "If you're feeling tired or need a relief driver call dispatch its part of our culture" that is a load of bs because if you're feeling tired you have to stay with the crew until your relief driver gets there. This job is not worth what you have to put yourself through.
Answered May 18, 2020
You have a poor excuse for a supervisor in central texas. he's the most rude, uncaring and clueless guy we have ever seen. The vans are absolutely filthy ALWAYS, The drivers are either way overweight and smelly, or stuck up and won't help if you need it. The railroad crews are great! That's the only good thing about this job. The pay is at least $3.00 less than anywhere else. The crews complain about the vans on a daily basis.

What is the most stressful part about working at HALLCON?
Asked Sep 21, 2016
Being on call all the time gets old really fast. Also the communication between our dispatch and the railroad dispatch sucks. Half the time our dispatch doesn't even know what they're doing or where everything is because they're in Kansas
Answered May 18, 2020
Being on call wasnt fun. Also, in the short time I was there, the dispatchers never once sent me to the right pickup locations (on two occasions I was sent to the wrong town entirely). I would spend between 1 to 2 hours playing phone tag with supervisors just trying to find my crew because they also never gave me a radio channel to contact the engine.
