First of all the whole company is based around team orientation, which lightens the staff body's moral entirely .This helps with making sure the entire store stays above the District Manager, as well as, the Store Directors Goals for every single department. Which is usually somewhere close to 85% per department, and also store sales. After that it would have to be the overall well roundedness in every individuals skill set level within each department, due to the exceptional Hennes & Mauritz handbook, learning, and training process. While the Trainers continuously remind the new team members during the training videos, and store walk throughs that, "It is more than acceptable to ask any type of questions no matter how they may seem to oneself that they may have; are holding, or are hiding, whether it be for pride, ego, or fear of sounding incompetent." The Supervisors, as well as, the Management Team do a very awesome job of reinforcing the concept of letting new team members know to be themselves, and frequently tell new members that letting out your questions from the beginning is a good way to start. Rather than holding them back for when the new team member is faced with an incident with a guest questioning them on the exact same query that originally during the first new member walk throughs. I gave this place a chance. I went through their THREE interviews for a simple warehouse associate position which is just an overkill. When I finally started, I received very little training. Yes it's a simple job but your left on your own to asked questions and figure it out.
As a H&M employee you are heavily outnumbered by the temps and there's a language barrier that can interfere with work. The conveyor rollers are all busted but they haven't replaced them. There's not enough pallet jacks and a shortage of tape guns. No stretchwrap dispenser poles. Items that I was used to having at the workplace is not here or in terrible shape.
How's working with your associates? I'll just quote this line from another reviewer "There are your hard workers, just enough-ers, and slackers." Honestly, being a hard worker can be a disadvantage. Your left to clean up after the slackers and after awhile this will drain you. Also management will just keep pushing you for more. Being a "just enough-er" sounds like the ideal choice because you can pace yourself and not exhausted yourself. There's no incentive for hard work here.
I have to bring up that work space here is a joke! Too many times I have lifted with poor technique because of the little spacing to work with. You can't bend properly and use your power zone to lift boxes often. Bumping into associates, pallets, boxes, and whatever is on the floor.
All of this is plain to see, but I've seen nothing done to correct it yet. Man

a typical day at work: A new day with new priorities to handle every day - really fun. Unfortunately you'll never see any signs of appreciation from colleagues or managers since everyone is focused on them self... But work climate between equals and staff with lower positions. A workload at an extremely high pace that is impossible to maintain without crashing mentally and physically. But fun as long as it lasted and during the years I got to work with GOOD managers who understood the value of giving and taking, asking for help and giving help and adaptations to both the store's needs and the individual's. Unfortunately, these managers are endangered, it seems...
management: 3 out of 15 Managers has been extremely good! Then of the rest, half of them have been good, while the other half catastrophe! They have taken cred for the work of others, been mean to the employers and haven't had any empathy. No signs of understanding of that their staff has a life outside of work as well - that also needs to work... Driving the staff to hard, and the worst part is that HQ seems to like the way H&Ms staff are being treated. Even if half of the staff ends up depressed and on sick leave.
workplace culture: fun co-workers. High tempo and the best part is when you can serve a (nice) customer. Great place to work to make $$ while in school but VERY stressful
I had this job when I was in my senior year in college. It was great because of the great starting pay. As a part-timer you got to choose your schedule of how many hours you wanted and what days/ shifts except you had to have open weekends. As a part-time you don't get health insurance or any other real benefits but you do get gift cards almost every month when the store hit their goals. This is great cause you basically get free clothes every month which is great for a college student. The downside to this job is the work load/ pace/ stress. This is a VERY stressful atmosphere. Its all about being efficient - working fast with no mistakes. The customers are very rude because at H&M you don't give direct customer service. There are only 3 points of customer contact - The floor, The fitting room, and cash point. Its basically an Ikea for clothes. You are not required to make sales on the floor such as outfitting customers and trying to up-sale them with other merchandise. If anything you try to avoid customers on the floor because you are to busy working on other projects, trying to keep your department clean, or working on go backs. This makes customers very upset because it can be very overwhelming to shop at H&M without any help. If a customer asks you where something is you aren't required to stop what your doing and show them you can get away with just pointing them in the right direction. I’d like to start by saying for H&M as a whole... 5/5 star review I can’t go on enough about how wonderful of a company H&M is. From it’s core values and beliefs, day to day life in store, product, etc... amazing. However, for a company that values its employees and “best practices” the fact that they’re still letting the management team at this store continue for as long as they have honestly baffles me....
Management team will preach all day about communication skills, but can never properly communicate with each other let alone even consider talking to their sales advisors without extreme passive aggression.
They love to talk to you all day about how they’re the manager and you’re below them which must mean you don’t know anything and it’s their way or the highway, but they would really love to hear feedback and your ideas (it does however threaten them and then you get blacklisted.)
The managers will sit in the back all day or do small insignificant tasks that doesn’t help the bigger picture of what needs to be accomplished and then let their sales advisors single-handedly do the work of 3 employees on their own.
Also, they all dislike each other... so you can imagine what working with that is like.
The favoritism is OBNOXIOUS... I think that’s self-explanatory.
You will never be properly trained. They threw all that out the window a long time ago... and there might be like 2 sales advisors left in that store that actually know what should be happening.

In my 11 years working here I have done and achieved a bunch of life skills. I was lucky enough to join in the prime of expansion but that did not last very long. For me, the going places and opening new stores in different markets, cities and states were the best thing along with the benefits. Unfortunately this great opportunity did not last long and turned into a “ favorites first “ kind of thing. The expansion experience became obsolete after a few years due to over saturation in the markets. Working in a store is very bittersweet because your coworkers becomes family like but there isn’t many opportunities for growth. Although I am one of the many people who has seen the best of this company, not a lot of people could say the same. The workload is very demanding and you are usually over compensated financially for every position but each role has hidden responsibilities that I feel is outside of the compensation. In order to be full time you literally have to have no life because your availability MUST be 100% open meaning your schedule is never the same. Management opportunities are far and free unless someone in the higher ups likes you enough for you to advance. I have also learned that all is takes is 1 bad incident to ruin your reputation and opportunity for growth. People are constantly looked over and taken advantage of, if you’re good at something chances are they will have you stuck doing that for too long and once you voice your concern about it, you’re viewed

A year and a half of wasted time
So to start I got hired around November 2019 I was happy and excited to work for a company I always admired . Then after not being put in the location I applied for I had to settle for less nontheless I was happy almost to start. Minus the location being surrounded in lower life america . And their being no employee parking . Which didnt matter to my store management. I learned a lot working there but I wouldn’t say I gained a lot from working for this company. I was still living check to check even with picking up hours and asking tor full time . I interviewed twice for fulltime and didn’t get it . I asked for consistency in my schedule never got it . Working there in pandemic was certainly interesting since people come in and touched Everything. In conclusion I’d say this job isn’t for someone who wants a consistent lifestyle. You will work your butt off to no avail ifyou let the company. Its more of a younger energy job . My store became severely under staffed after our quarantine in which our traffic never slowed. It was and is taxing on the soul. A couple of the employees had gotten positives in which they paid us off so that was nice ai guess. I absolutely loved my (just shy of) 7 years with H&M. I started as a part time associate in the Accessories Dept, and by the end I was a Visual Keyholder. Growth was incredibly difficult. Promotions are partially impacted by favoritism. I had a manager tell me to my face, "I'm not promoting you because your attitude sucks." May be valid to a degree, but when you're forced for almost a year to listen to the same short music soundtrack on a loop-while smiling! Not to mention watching customers throw clothes on the floor, it can really be a challenge (literally. People need to stop doing this. Seriously.) But they feel "We believe in people" is a way to grow and that is true. You can have zero experience and show interest in one area of anywhere within the h&m realm and they will help you to grow into that role. But it takes real dedication and effort. Benefits were alright. Good 401k matching, tenure determines amount of vacation accrued. I was just right over a month of accrued PTO days plus sick days are given in a separate bucket. They "Don't care if you're saving puppies on the top of Mount everest " DON'T BE LATE. Their T&A policy is strict and they are very consistent on accountability. It's part of their opening manager's morning routine so it will not be overlooked. They do a good job of rotating job functions throughout the day so you don't get bored or stuck somewhere. I left due to a health issue and what was a very poor and offensive response from my store manager.

Decent jobs for college students but inconsistent hours
Overall, the hours are super flexible and the job is easy to learn, even if you have little or no working experience. If you are a college student living at home or with roommates I'd say the pay is fairly decent. Usually, employees make about $9-10 per hours in the sale advisor position, however, you could negotiate for a bit more depending on your own location and own work experience. So the typical shift is 5 hours with a 15 minutes break or 9 hours (full shift) with the option to take a 30 minute or hour lunch. There's a truck shift (morning stock room), midday shift, and an evening (closing) shift. Part-timers are guaranteed at least 10 hours per week and full-timers are guaranteed about 30. Please be aware there are periods in the year when the store will not make goal or have much business, and that ultimately will affect the number of hours everyone will receive for the upcoming week. It is also important to note that a goal is set every week for the amount of money a location needs to make and will affect scheduled hours in the future weeks. Schedules are typically made about 4-5 weeks out.
My favorite part of the job was the employee discount, which was 25%, and it can be combined with other store coupon offers. The workplace culture consists of mostly people in their twenties and a few high schoolers here and there, and for the most part, everyone seemed to get along fairly well. A mess.
Of course, every experience varies from store to store. But the management here is so messy, and almost awful. For the largest store in the world, there's barely any structure and management wants too much for so little. The work-life balance is so unrealistic. For example, if you are a student, I wouldn't recommend. The kind of shifts and hours that they give do not give you enough time to focus on school or your personal life.
Management here will find ANY possible reason to give you a documentation, even if it is their own fault. God forbid you fall sick, they will give you a documentation for being sick, EVEN if you have a doctors note. I have had several coworkers who switched shifts or got shifts taken away and gotten documentations because management didn't bother to put it in the system. Disgraceful and unprofessional.
COVID response is also one of the worst things about this job. They will only clean/disinfect the store and then keep it going if there is a positive case. They will only notify those who were/are working that day about the case but no one beforehand or within the time window. You will find out through coworkers.
In my experience, I am positive that management does not care about their employees or their wellbeing. Business is business and as long as they get a check, that is all that matters. Wytrzymałem tam parę miesięcy, po czym dostałem lekką traume. Musiałem parę miesięcy odpocząć od tej pracy.
Wieczny zapierdol, nacisk, zwracanie uwagi za byle co, ekipa wtedy była tragiczna... Nie jestem zbyt wymagającą osobą, ale jeśli dekoratorzy ignorują cię, dlatego że zarabiają 200 złote więcej i "stroją manekiny oraz sklep" to chyba coś było nie tak. W windzie w ciągu dnia nawet na "hej"/"hejka" nie odpowiadali. A dodam, że nie było osoby której bym źle traktował...
Początkowo nawet grafik był ignorowany częściowo, ale to akurat można było wywalczyć.
Pracownicy raczej żadko miały ze sobą problemy, ale często było toksycznie (różne charaktery pojawiały się i nie mogły zbyt polubić). Przykładowo, często na zamknięciu trzeba było zostać dłużej niż napisane w planie, bo piętro niżej osoby się nie wyrobiły. Pół godziny sprzątania stawało się godziną, plus wyjście tyłem galerii. Dodaj dojazd do domu, ja często bywałem dopiero przed 24 w domu.
Po zmianie lokalizacji, sytuacja była lepsza. W sklepie w Kapelance było o dziwo bardzo fajnie - panował taki klimat rodzinny, jak u babci na wsi. Można było się pośmiać, pogadać no i jak człowiek pracować.

Where do I begin? It was a terrible experience in general. The interview process was quite simple, but off putting due to the unprofessionalism of the department managers, such as inappropriate vocabulary, criticizing one's personal life, setting up an incredibly late start date, pressuring you into quitting your old job, and disapproving of peoples availabilities- pressuring you to take more hours than what you may be capable of handling. If you have a friend that works at the store you plan on applying to, don't bother, they won't consider you as a possible candidate or fire you soon after hiring you. The management was incredibly disorganized with online training and with preparing name tags and the employee card. They were very judgmental and scrutinized everything you did- so much for "we are one team", right? Teammates are meant to help one another and give each other tips on how to perform well, however, they don't tell you whether if you are doing something wrong, and continuously give you praise for the work you do, but then suddenly let you go an hour before your shift begins. If you were to briefly converse with your fellow associates on your first day of training in order to get to know them, your time at H&M will be short-lived, given how they don't want NEW associates to socialize with one another whatsoever when on the floor, but are fine with older employees when it comes to hugging, excessive conversations, and laziness, such as leaving tables messy and ignor

CONS
Pay is rubbish when compared to other call centre jobs or even supermarket work. Pay is around 8.57 an hour for a first line agent. No location pay, which would help out considering the office is in the city centre.
Pay does not reflect depth of role.
Agents are trained on H&M UK and then you might be placed into another team eg India or US or brands which means you need to take additional training in order to learn processes for H&M for other markets.
Most agents I knew were trained on at least two markets so you need to know your stuff- not reflected in the rate that’s close to minimum wage.
Surely H&M, a Swedish company should be implementing the living wage.
Grace time is the five minutes you have at the start and end of your shift in order to get set up/ logged out.
Five minutes is no where near enough time as the systems are slow and laggy. 5 minutes to read your emails, their internal news posts page, their office social network site (where team news / market updates are posted) 5 minutes is not enough time for this and it’s just cheeky.

Właśnie zakończyłem swoją 2-letnią przygodę z H&M i powiem szczerze: nigdy więcej pracy w sieciówce. Jest go ogromnie niewdzięczna praca, która w żaden sposób nie przekłada się na zarobki. Zacznę jednak od plusów pracy w H&M. Studiuję dziennie, dlatego też jedyną opcją było dla mnie 1/2 etatu. W ciągu roku akademickiego się to sprawdzało, natomiast kiedy podczas wakacji chciałem sobie dorobić tzn. zwiększyć etat nie było to możliwe, ponieważ cały czas słyszałem „Nie mamy na razie etatu wolnego”. Takim o to sposobem osoby, które przychodziły jako nowe na umowę zlecenie mogły zarobić fajną kasę podczas wakacji, a ja jako stały pracownik zostawałem ze swoją śmieszną pół etatową wypłatą. Oczywiście jest również kwestia nadgodzin, natomiast owych nie polecam wyrabiać, gdyż to robiłem na nadgodzinach było mi oddawane w dniach wolnych, a jak już jakieś miałem to było to parenaście złotych XD Po raz kolejny sposób jak zniechęcić do pracy stałych pracowników. Kwestie zarobków mamy za sobą - tak jak mówię, były one po prostu śmieszne i nie warte takiej ilości pracy jakiej od ciebie wymagają. A właśnie, kto wymaga? Przejdźmy teraz do słynnych managerów/ kierowników departamentu. Niestety większość z nich ma zbyt duże mniemanie o sobie i wymagają zbyt wiele. Już nie wspomnę o ciągłym wydzwanianiu w wolne dni, czy przyjdę do pracy bo coś tam. Κάτι που συμφέρει την H&M καθώς μπορούν να σε απολύσουν οποιαδήποτε στιγμή αφού η σύμβαση μέσω Randstand είναι εβδομαδιαία και οι μισθοί χαμηλότεροι των μονίμων (3,2€ την ώρα ως Randstand και 4-6€ ως H&M). Ormai l'azienda assume solo con contratto a chiamata. Non sarebbe nemmeno un problema se fossero onesti con i dipendenti, invece li spingono a credere che ci sia possibilità di assunzione(quasi inesistenti) pur di far lavorare sempre al massimo il job in call.
I dipendenti a tempo indeterminato sono quelli che veramente fanno la pacchia . Fingono settimane di malattie prima delle ferie per poi puntualmente e magicamente guarite all'occorrenza. Mesi di permessi, finti infortuni, qualcuno addirittura ha atteggiamenti scorretti verso i colleghi e i manager rimanendo impunito. Ogni tanto si verificavano anche strani casi di furti, però ecco H&m crede nelle persone quindi si fida. Peccato che Delle persone sbagliate.
Il contratto job in call è praticamente un tappabuchi. Per legge dovrebbero chiamare almeno 24 ore prima del turno di lavoro, se tutto va bene invece alle 18 ricevi la chiamata per il turno del mattino successivo.
Non puoi programmare ferie (che comunque si maturano) o dire troppi no (nonostante non sia pagata indennità di disponibilità) perché poi tendono a non chiamarti o comunque a farti fuori allo scadere dei sei mesi.
Diversamente se ti mostri un profilo valido, disponibile ed efficiente,dopo un anno e mezzo sei comunque fuori. Se hai avuto la sfortuna di un contratto più lungo invece sei destinatario a passare gli ultimi mesi a casa e a lavorare si e no tre giorni al mese proprio perché i giorni disponibili da contratto sono pochi.

This company is good at marketing their work place but the management at this particular store is very unethical. The turnover rate is extremely high and the people who have quit have all experienced this. I just want to highlight my points so people applying can read about what goes on here. I left my job there due to these circumstances and stand by all these observations.
Managers belittle other managers to employees, managers talk down upon other employees to employees. This creates a culture of negative gossip in which employees will want to befriend the managers in order to not be bullied. This also creates a culture of fraternization. Respecting the power figures is of certain importance, any feedback is met with no changes what so ever.
Pay is minimum wage. You are on your feet your entire shift, breaks are frowned upon you can get between 4-9 hr shifts. Be prepared to be standing this long as well as running around. The job itself as expected is doing cash, customer service, processing shipments and putting out new clothes. Your functions will change every hour. Some days you will not get a break, you could be working until midnight and work at 7am the next day. This is EXPECTED. You are expected to work these types of hours for minimum wage. Ambiente amichevole, teamwork, feedback costruttivi per aiutare a migliorare se stessi e il lavoro di squadra, insomma una bella filosofia aziendale che altri luoghi non hanno. Col passare dei mesi inizi a vedere il marcio che all'inizio ti viene oscurato per farti cadere nel tranello. Il teamwork esiste e non esiste e se vieni aiutato dopo qualche minuto senti i colleghi parlare male di te (ditemi voi allora a che serve il lavoro di squadra sopratutto all'inizio. mah!) di feedback stessa cosa non ne vedrai finchè qualcuno non ti prenderà di punta allo scopo di metterti nelle condizioni che sarai tu alla fine ad andartene di tua spontanea volontà ( per quanto tu possa metterti di impegno, se sei finito dentro il torchio sarà difficile uscirne) un brutto ambiente, devi diffidare da tutte le belle facce anche quelle che sembrano sempre disponibili. Vieni rimproverato quando sbagli di fronte ai clienti in modi non molto carini facendoti sentire in imbarazzo davanti alle persone, e questa è una cosa che odio, almeno se si devono fare rimproveri vengano fatti in luoghi dove i clienti non possono esserci. Parlando del contratto(Job on call) che non prevede un indennità di disponibilità ti fanno sentire come se tu fossi obbligato a rispondere alle

I applied, then they called back in two weeks for the interview, then called me on two days later offering the job!

Applied and was asked to attend a group interview with in a week. The interview was interesting, had to give presentations on cutsomer servise and how we would respond in certain circumstances. Note: they take note of how you interact with others getting interviewed, be nice and confident!
The interview was a friday and I heard back the next tuesday that I got the job

If I were in charge, I would try my hardest to make H&M even more friendly for people who do not speak english and try to make it a little more plus sized friendly.

How flexible are your working hours at H&M?

Not flexible at all for fulltime or management employees. Super flexible for part timers. They're able to have minimal availability in exception to weekends. But even then they're able to switch or request off more because there are more of them. If you're full time or management you MUST have open availability and time off is hard to come by. Have to fight over weekends off or taking pto time with the other managers since there are only a couple plus most stores are understaffed and then you have to keep moving your vacation or even worse just use a day a week to use it instead of actually using it how you want. Plus there are a lot of black out dates which make it difficult to schedule time off between the overhead. So like I said we all are fighting over when we can take time off so we don't lose our earned PTO.
