Very Productive
I learning how to conquer my fears Working as a Overhead crane operator with full confident in myself. S.E.P was my safety equipment, and the most enjoyable was coming to work and on time.

Very fast paced must be able to adapt quickly to new positions
This is difficult to explain as I float to many jobs throughout the shift. I prepare for this by bringing a cooler on wheels that contain everything from paint suit aprons pouches first aid kit tools that may help me do a variety of positions. While GM does provide tools and they have a medical department, but depending on the position the in plant ambulance can take some time getting to a injured or critical medical issue, I help injured people until the ambulance can get to them.
My typical work day begins with job assignment and make my way to the area where I will be working, I setup my workstation that make sense to me. The management team members are understanding of the fact that we all have lives outside of the plant, and when an employee emergency arise and they do everything everything in their power to get you out of the plant so employees can handle what they need to in order return back to work. GM has a very diverse workforce which I find very welcoming.
The most difficult part of being a GM employee is the speed of the production jobs it can be intimidating however with time given to master a position, the team members of the team are very helpful and patient during the learning curve.
The most rewarding part of working for GM is the person friendships that develop over time, and watching one of our vehicles being enjoyed by the consumer with the product I helped build, makes me very proud to be part of the GM family.

Empowerment
Overall good experience and would return if I could work remote. Enjoyed colleagues, some managers are very good, but there is politics involved when considering advancement.

Going through turmoil trying to compete with new technology and changing processes
GM was a nice place to work but has become very goals and deadline orientated. I has become a factory work type environment where you are there to complete a task and move on. I didn't like the open seating arrangement which was supposed to join individuals but instead made it less team oriented and more individualist.

Great place to work!
The work environment at General was challenging but fun. There was always opportunities to learn new things and grow in your professional career. My experiences there were always positive with lots of working together and team building. I would definitely recommend working for General Motors. I would go back if the opportunity arose.

Sucked
I hated working there. It was ok at the beginning but the managers that were there couldn't be bothered to actually provided learning materials on a new process that I was expected to learn. They gave me a overhead presentation with bullet points and asked me to learn from that with no context of the bullet points. Amateur in my honest opinion.

Blind leading the Blind
Overall the company operated in silos. There was not transparency in the work or projects which made it difficult to cross train in other areas for career development. It runs like the good old boys club. More about who you know versus can you do the job.

Reasonable place to work
Typical corporate culture - either very busy or stand still. Some opportunity for advancement and overtime, but limited.Overall, quite a reasonable place to work.
