Overall Reviews at Fujitsu
4.0
Fujitsu great worklife balance
Good work life balance
Flexible work hours.
Good first line managers.
Good team environment.
Good compensations plan and benefits.
Not so great in quoting services to customer or plans to retain customers.
New direction at every all-hands meeting. Seems as every national strategy had to be instantly successful or else abandoned.
Giving the customer the lowest accepted quote does not translate to more services sold later.
ProsGood work from home policy.
ConsJapan leadership

Wearer of Many Hats
In my role I manage wireless accounts with AT&T, Verizon and Sprint with in excess of 5,000 lines on them. These were all of the phone, mifi and tablet lines that were used by employees that had corporate devices. I am also responsible for overseeing the nurturing of relationships with various vendors, subcontractors and temporary agencies. This is effectively accomplished by a team of 7 employees that report to me.
ProsNever the same thing every day

Fear of working at Fujitsu
Every year the managers have to pick one person out of each group to let go due to performance. It is decided by upper management, and is usually based on Salary, Age, and who likes you more than how you do. If upper management knows your name your usually safe. If not you're probably on your way out. This causes everyone to get very nervous around review time.

Nice place to work with excellent benefits
Nice place to work with excellent benefits. Held 3 account positions there, including two advancements. Merger moved company out of state so position was eliminated.

Knew hardware but didn't know IT services
Fujitsu was just getting into IT services in the Americas so it was going through growing pains. There was a lot of turn over at the CEO and executive levels. Lack of stability was very frustrating.
ProsWilling to take a chance to move into a new region.
ConsDidn't understand the culture of the new region.

Good Professional Services Company with limited clientele and limited room for growth.
Became part of Fujitsu as part of them acquiring DMR Consulting. DMR had limited clientele in consulting business and limited vision for expansion and no room for growth.
ProsLocal consulting projects with less travel.
ConsLimited room for growth due to limited vision for expansion.

System Engineer
My day would start out by going to our main office for meetings with my project manager to discuss upcoming projects, time tables, requirements, and who would be assign to them. I was very fortunate to have worked with talented and knowlegable people who went out their way to answer any questions or update the systems engineers on new prodceedures.
The hardest part of the job would have been at times waiting for customer equipment to arrive to complete the job in a timely manner I really did enjoy the opportunity they gave us once a year to work in the lab to work on new Fiber Optic products or exisitingFiber Optic products to come up with new and inovated ways to speed up turn up and test, and troublesshoot troubles that may arise. Also I really enjoy how information of technincal experience was free shared with all system engineers
ProsGreat job opportunities, great work enivorment, great place for advancement.
Consnone that I could think of.

Typical consulting environment
Work sites varied greatly, but to be expected. They didn't try and nickle and dime expenses and worked hard to ensure travel schedules were overbearing or demanded personal time.

Talented tech people, but mgmt are dinosaurs
I worked with the top ranks of the management, as well as the line managers. The company has lots of money from managed services long term clients, but the senior management are people who don't understand the new world of IT, and can't sell their own products or revamp them very well. Good technical talent, poor management and strategic execution.

Good employees but management mostly concerned with box ticking
Fujitsu seems to retain employees so there must be some sense of accomplishment and opportunity for advancement but as a contractor these are invisible. Treated as an employee the environment is fine with colleagues who are great to work with but the management are not interested unless you've not completed a mandatory course or a bit late submitting a time sheet.
Pay was ok but had stagnated, in fact an enforced 5% reduction was the only movement in 9 years.
Overall I enjoyed my time with Fujitsu (even though it doesn't sound like it) because of the good working conditions and my remote location but I'm not sure that I'd return.
ProsGood working environment
ConsDisinterested management
