Overall Reviews at First Transit

Worst place I have ever worked.
Revolving door! All new management in the past year none of it good. Radio's on bus are terrible. Management are not drivers and will lie to you to keep you out driving 10 plus hours a day.
ProsPaid training
ConsTough to get the vacation you want or even just a few hours off when needed.

Busy, Professional Environment
Contracted by NCTD for Bus Operations. Good company. Hired on as Admin Asst but moved into Payroll because of skill set required to do the job. Typical day is busy between computer work, handling walk-ins and phone calls asking about payroll or benefit information or handling accounts payable for various vendors. Work place culture is easy going but professional. Very task oriented on daily and weekly basis.

Was always to busy
First Transit is run by people with a short term goal. You either produce consistently or your history. I choose to stay in the business out respect for myself and others.
ProsWith the client only
ConsNo healthcare to speak of...

A good job if you love to drive and you love the metro area!
Driving bus is enjoyable because I love to drive.
It can be a lonely job because you never get to know your fellow co-workers. You are always driving!
The clients are very challenging and interesting. They become a part of your life very easily.
The communication in this company is about the worse it can get. Management does not even know what is going on. There is a big disconnect between Metro Counsel and Metro Transit.

Decent Paying Job
First Transit has good competitive wages for their employees. They also attempt to be flexible with availability. The reservations department handles about 400 calls per day. This department is where the connection to the clients who use the services begin. They also have a dispatch department and on sight safety managers and driver trainers.
Prosflexible with hours
Consexpensive healthcare

First Transit has a professional environment
Working in the department keeps me busy with answering calls, setting up reservations and scheduling trips, and assisting clients with any other issues.
