Great Place to Work with Opportunities for Advancement
I worked at Entergy full-time for more than 4 years. Pros: Safety and employee focussed culture. High performing individuals are rewarded well. Plenty of career opportunities Cons: Too many organizational changes. Lagging behind in advanced software and latest technology.

Great salary for demanding work
Working in a regulated field is demanding, requiring a great deal of applied knowledge on a daily basis. The pay and benefits are very good. Coworkers, even between departments, are generally concerned for each other's work success and welfare. Least enjoyable part of the job is call ins on the weekend. The most enjoyable part of the job is recognizing that the work being performed is benefiting the station.

Solid employer
Very large company. Operates like a quasi-governmental entity so can be very slow adapting. However with Many different departments there is opportunity to move into other areas.
Pros9-80 schedule, solid pay and benefits
ConsThe best workers will carry the load

Great pay
High paying if you're in nuclear. Other than that, not a lot to offer here. The people are decent, but your actual career growth is pretty subpar.
ProsPay
ConsWork-life balance is way off

Stay away
Human resources is a nightmare. Middle Management appears to have been chosen from a hat. The leads are so afraid of looking bad that they will blame their own mistakes on their subordinates.

Only want to leave because it isn't in DFW
Love my job, rotating shiftwork can be tough but rewarding. Good pay and decent benefits. Pension is gone now but I'm grandfathered in which makes it a little harder to leave. Very hard to get in, need a specific set of skills.

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Entergy a better place to work?
Asked Oct 25, 2016
Scout for talent instead of letting the managers hire their buddies. HR “recruiters” know it’s going on but have no authority to step in.
Answered Nov 16, 2020
Hire effective managers and make sure they know how to manage. It's not about team meetings. A manager should be able to encourage the growth of their team and make them feel valuable.
