Employees activities were second to none: fishing trips, co picnics, Christmas parties etc...
Dupont was a great place to grow and learn. Good employees, great management smart workforce. Garden City set the standard for all other pharmaceutical companies the company actually cared about its employees and in return all employees were on performed to extreme measures to accomplish the job!

DuPont has great people working there
DuPont has great people working in their various business units. The major issue is the churn and downsizing as the business works to "meet its numbers". So job security and advancement are not a priority.

Lousy company
Good work was never rewarded and mistakes were heavily noticed. I worked there for 9 1/2 months as a contract to hire and they fired me for a completely made up reason. While I was there they also let several people go that spent years there. So if your looking for a short time gig with nasty management and no job security then this is the job for you!

All about the shareholders
The company cares more about the shareholders than the employees. Morale was not great when the new CEO stepped in. My immediate management in the Crop Protection Business was fantastic.

Degree jobs are hard to hire on unless you are an Engineer.
Although they valued my work there as a contractor, they did not believe they needed to hire anyone who was not an Engineer, Operator, Electrician, or Mechanic. All others was positions easily filled, no need to increase head count at the site. As a contract worker with a degree and 5 years work experience in industry, I was not compensated with pay or vacation to match my level. I accepted this position and terms since I was a second income and needed the flexibility to take off from work when I wanted to participate in school activities with my children. DuPont was very flexible with that need.

Fantastic place to work with great people!
Great place to work until the company Merged with Dow. It is probably still not a bad place to work, I really don't have anything negative to say about it. I wish that I still worked there, but the merger made sure that our site was downsized so that mostly senior level people and management were retained and not us lowly operations personnel. CEO's and Board member still get what they want, whatever makes their pockets heavier. But overall, I have fond memories of the company and still would recommend it to someone who wants to give them a try.
ProsGreat culture and management!
ConsMergers!

Great benefits
The job was always very stressful, and someone was always pushing your buttons to try and get a laugh out of you whether it was management or peers. The pay was not worth the job, but the benefits were very good!

This plant there is no room for advancement.
All the exempt employees were mostly hand picked by the last plant manager to become the salary employees. 95% of them just happened to be doing that plant manager some personal favors free of charge like servicing his sons A/C unit and his vehicles & lawnmowers.
