Good company to work for.
I enjoyed working for DTE. The Union Represented benefits were very good and most of my fellow employees were great. Management at most levels leaves a bit to be desired as with most large companies.

People are great there
The people is really what made this place a great place to work. Not happy with some of the management in IT. I learned a lot during the years I worked there. I didn't like that you can't work from home too often.

Contractor | Ann Arbor, MI | Oct 27, 2020
Excellent company to work for.
I really enjoyed working with DTE but I was a contract employee on a specific project. Every morning started with a safety meeting and how to proceed safely with the work being done that day. I learned in a building project of this magnitude to expect the unexpected. The most difficult part of the job was some of the electrical contractors would take short cuts and their job would be stopped. The most enjoyable part of the job was after a couple of weeks the understanding and respect from the contractors was developed and the job proceeded smoothly with no injuries or accidents.
ProsGood working environment
ConsDifficult construction workers, had to be vigil in regards to following safety protocol.

Dte
DTE's commitment to the community is often overlooked and what makes it a special place. For the most part, the employees make their jobs personal, and truly care, especially in the customer service area.

Great Company!
The people here are great/ They are very nice and educated. I am a student co-op here during the pandemic. Hopefully, they will be hiring co-ops again soon enough.

I worked for a 3rd party not DTE corporate.
The 3rd party company I worked for did some of DTE call center work. I believe it would have been better to work directly for DTE Energy. This job has been the most stressful job at a call center I have every worked.

My company makes a difference in so many people lives
DTE is an awesome company. I am not an engineer so there are positions I would love to work in but I don’t have the skills. This company by far is one of the best companies to work at

Questions And Answers about DTE Energy

Is the drug test a urine or hair follicle test?
Asked Aug 12, 2017
Both the urine test and hair follicle test are required.
Answered Aug 5, 2021
When getting hired in the test is a hair follicle test. Once hired in, even working remotely, you get random urine tests.
Answered Aug 11, 2020
What is the interview process like for a customer service representative? Are there any test involved? If yes, what type?
Asked May 14, 2017
The hiring process can be very lengthy. Once you apply, you need to make it through that initial screening, next, you take an exam which will test your listening, typing, math, and problem solving skills. If you pass that, there is another test, where the instructor will do a roll play call in scenario. You take a certain number of calls, and assist them as you would a real life customer. Once you pass that, you then wait for an invitation to interview for the job. What comes after varies greatly. I would say, expect this to be over a month from A-Z.
Answered Mar 8, 2019
It is difficult to get into DTE. Many skills test (math and customer service are key) Interview is done by a panel, plus extensive background and drug test. In short, bring your A+ game.

Are you required to work Saturdays as a Customer Service Representative?
Asked Dec 14, 2016
DTE is a 24/7 operation for the call center and union represented. Thus there are bids for shifts so everything depends on what you bid and are assigned. Most schedules have a rotating Saturday. However because of gas leaks, fires, wires down and explosions...call center is a 24/7 operation. Yes, normal business is M-F 8am-6pm and Sat 8-2 ...we are still open and staffed the other hours.
Answered Aug 11, 2020
No its optional
