Large workload with no training. Lack of communication if this program
The position for which I worked with DHS was a contracted position that did not include benefits and there was little to no training from the coalition board of directors on what their expectations were for the position.
Prostravel frequently, friendly people, challenging work, freedom in work environment
Consno training, 50+ hours of work per week, lack of communication
Productive and busy department dealing with varying health issues in the community and environment.
The Environment Health Office dealt with a variety of concerns including the inspection and licensing of a number of premises throughout the Island. These included food establishments, restaurants, grocery stores, beauty salons/spas, childcare establishments/nurseries and several others. The inspectors would go out into their assigned sections and inspect the properties for cleanliness, functionality and provide advice to property owners on how to meet the necessary requirements in order to keep their businesses open. My job consisted of producing correspondence, typing letters to business owners and the processing and issuance of health certification.
Everyone worked as a very cohesive team, not only providing a needed service, but having a few laughs along the way. The Chief Officer worked well with the staff, graciously opening her home to after hour activities on Friday evenings. She could be very stern and strict with work, but was always pleasant and promoted the positive attitude and encouraged staff growth. I also had the opportunity to work as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Medical Officer, during his assistant's illness. This gave me the chance to associate with other members of the department and learn the workings of the Ministry office. It should be noted that I split my time between the two offices, doing two entirely jobs concurrently. The hardest part of my job was actually when I left to pursue another career option. However, I have ma
ProsGreat working environment; very comfortable and relaxed.
I did data entry, answer phones cover administrative department. I helped customer get application completed for dog license and service dogs. I also helped customers he had horse and carriage license. I watched over customer taking a test for the horse and carriage license. I also trained WEP workers that came in to work. The hard part was when customers came in complaining they did not receive their dog license in the mail. I had calmed them down by typing the License manual and allowing them to leave with the license. I enjoy helping the customers on the phone and those that came in.
ProsCommunicating With Customers

Fun people to work with
I was a Coordinator and this job was very stressful because this was an initiative to get free to the public for free. I sometime took My work home to look over everything in make sure things were ready for the next day. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the people that we intended to help.
This is a 5 start work place. Great people, awesome program helping children and families, coworkers and boss are very supportive, hardest part of job is helping parents change their views of parenting, most enjoyable is seeing change happen in families.
ProsSeeing children grow out of problem behaviors.
ConsSometimes its difficult to change parents view of parenting.
It was a job and I was appreciative for that. Managers played favorites and the work load was not evenly distributed. Made working relationships difficult.
The organization provides different kinds of benefits; the environment is fast pace; I found the most rewarding part of the job to be helping the community meet their desired goals.
Doh was a great company to work for. I worked very well with my peers and independently. They worked well with me when I needed time off. Great company
Hard-working yet professional environment to bring out the best in oneself.Huge diversity with many cultures to learn from.Flexible management styles amongst peers to help develop the character's of the personnel.
Challenging and fun in terms of experience and people.
Division of labor among nurses are balanced and well managed.
Various training and seminars are provided to develop a better collaboration among workers and people we serve.
The hardest and saddest part is the lack of benefits like life and health insurance and other resources specifically to those working offsite and had to travel from one island to another.
However, the support of the group in the area is so strong that it enables the individual to be motivated and inspired.
The life is enjoyable especially when positive results are achieved.
The hardest part of the job is not on how many patients arrive during the day,not on how many datas to encode, but it is on when you cannot help the person in need because of some limitations and you know that that person is so much in need of your help.
At the end of the day it still feels good because you were able to help a lot of people and you know you have served them well.
I have intense experience in all areas of Human Resources; from Recruitment, Labour Relations, Records Management, Training, Organisational Design; Human Resource Planning; as well as all other general areas related to Human Resource.
My experience ranges from being a very junior official, to being senior executive member of the organisation.
I enjoy interacting and assisting people; and derive fulfillment in success.
ProsLots of fringe benefits
ConsLong hours
