Wonderful seasonal job that keeps one extremely busy.
There are two distinctly different typical days of work at the Comcast Center. The first is the non event days. The typical non event day consists of taking in new shipments and carefully allocating the new inventory to all of the different points of sale and making sure that the inventory in each location remains consistent with what has been removed from the warehouse The small crew of workers assigned to this task usually divide into two or three groups and deliver the product as efficiently as possible. Once all new product is delivered the remainder of the day is dedicated to making sure all electronics (stoves refrigeration units, lights, etc.) are working correctly and fixing those that are not.
The second type of day is the far more fun and stressful of the two, event days. An event day for me begins with receiving the money that will be used for change, and I verify that the cash amount is correct. Having done that I check in with my general manager who tells me how much staff (a combination of cashiers and cooks) I will have under me today. I then proceed to my stand and ensure that everything is in working order. Once I am sure I begin to count all my inventory and make sure it is consistent with the spreadsheet that I have. I report any problems the commissary manager and wait for my staff to arrive. Some days there are new staff members and I am responsible for training them. So I started with Delaware North back in 2008 as a crew member and in the first 5 years the job was pretty enjoyable. That all changed as I was there longer. I can not express how much I was able to get from this company. I bought my first house, got my AA degree along with my Bachelors in Hospitality. These things aside it was a rough road to accomplish. First as a crew member you work apart of a union and the pay wages where good if you where hired before 2013. Anyone coming in now will not get paid the same and you will some times be made to work harder then the people who get paid more because "seniority rules". You make an average 5$ less then the people who have been there for a while. As I progressed up the seniority list I finally got my degree and started looking for a job as a food and beverage supervisor. I figured the company seeing my continued education would take a notice and try to promote from within. WRONG! Instead I get a job for 6 months at another property with another company. During this time they hire another supervisor as an intern in the food and beverage department all because the HR director and the food and beverage director go and eat and drink at his parents restaurant in the small town nearby. This individual was still in school while I had already graduated and shown interest in jobs as a supervisor but they let me walk right out the door. This was the first time I left. Currently an employee at Delaware North in Kings Canyon National Park and I thought it was appropriate to post an anonymous "heads-up" to anyone heading out this way for work or interested in working in Kings Canyon in the near future. And I can only offer insight on what to expect with Delaware North in Kings Canyon. I'll start with what I think is most important, the food. Not much variety at all, but the Chefs do a great job of making every meal option delicious. The disappointing aspect is that all employees who applied this summer were promised meals priced at Breakfast - $3.25, Lunch - $3.50 and Dinner - $3.50. Even when you show up, you sign a document stating the cost of meals but it is not honored because and I quote "the company is being stingy because they are low on funds." They offer half off which ends up around $8 a meal, not exactly an employee benefit when its simply frozen meals from Sysco. Housing = cabin with plywood floors, gaps around the doors, disgusting beds, overcrowded (expect numerous people in a standard size bedroom), no heat/ac, no restroom or shower for employees within 200 yards (bathroom is being rebuilt so employees have to shower in guests rooms before they are cleaned by housekeeping), their housekeeping department is severely understaffed and results in numerous complaints everyday from high-paying guests (Also, HK is barred from getting tips from guests), management is staffed with the head honcho's friends who are suspiciously not requi

Obtaining a job for Delaware North Companies, under MetLife Stadium wasn't intentional; as I accompanied my friend to her job interview the upper management asked to interview me as well and granted me with an Inventory Management position. Working for Delaware North Companies is very exciting. If I had to describe a typical day at work with one word, it will be "Endless Fun". Scrutinizing thousands of satisfied customers brings me great satisfaction and it makes me feel like I have done my job as a manager to keep my staff motivated and energized enough to transmit their excitement out to our clients. I have learned to work with a group of individuals from various backgrounds and work experiences and learned to respect them and appreciate for who they are. I have learned to be authoritative as a manager but at the same time to make our staff feel welcome, care for and to show them that I truly appreciate their hard work. As a result, we have increase job satisfaction and most importantly higher productivity and much better customer service. Working with my co-workers make me feel confident and secure of my decision while at work, as my supervisors believe in me and trust that I will be in control and solve any problems to any given uncomfortable situation. One of the hardest parts of this job is to find that one counter worker to wait until everyone leaves to mop the floors. When I started working for DNC last August (2019) I was excited and looked forward to going to work every day. I looked forward to seeing my managers and coworkers. I looked forward to my work duties. I looked forward to seeing the customers. Most of all I looked forward to helping out because I knew how desperately my restaurant needed me. It made me feel useful.
I started out as a utility worker and quickly moved up to a line cook position because they were severely understaffed. I was regularly working 12 hour shifts every day for the first 2 months, by choice mind you. And also going in on one of my days off to work a shift because I felt obligated to help out. I was cheerful when I started and a couple of my coworkers told me to, “give it a few months before you lose that spark.” To which I responded, “yeah right!” Oh, how wrong I was. I spend 4 hours a day in commute to get to and from work, 2 hours each way. And most days it just feels like a chore. My main issue is how unappreciated my efforts have been. I feel like I’ve given so much to this company and I’m valued at less than nothing. A worthless, expendable, commodity at best. My managers (save for a couple) could care less about what I do and have done for the restaurant since I started. HR is useless, you’re better off looking for a unicorn if you need assistance with something. But the real kicker is the Worker’s Union and the dues you pay for “representation.”

A typical day involved operating a cash register at the Desert View Trading Post and seeing that the floor was fully stocked, clean and neatly arranged. I would inventory, verify quantities of deliveries and store the new merchandise. The job at the cash register was the part that I enjoyed the most, getting to interact with people that were happy to be there. The visit here might have been a once in a lifetime experience and visit for them, or it might be that they bring friends and relatives by every time someone comes to visit them locally. I was able to suggest "must see" attractions in the area, tell them how to get to specific places and make lots of them laugh.
The management appreciated my dependability and job skills and I appreciated their efforts to make the job better for everyone. The hardest part of the job involved the supervisory duties when dealing with individuals that did not have a good work ethic and attitude and appeared not happy to be there, but help in this remote location was hard to come by. Computer, cash register or credit card machine problems were annoying, but were just a part of the everyday operation.
I certainly miss the grand location at the Grand Canyon, but need new places to explore and having just returned from Hawaii, the 48th state that I have visited, I want to get to Maine and Vermont, the only two that I have not visited.
ProsI got to spend 7 months at one of the seven wonders of the world, that people enjoy visiting, was able to park my Travel Trailer close to my place of work, paid $35 per week for full hookup and propane.

I worked there as a part time job towards to end of college. It was somewhat inconsistent - pretty laid-back and slow-paced at times, mainly on non-Twins home game days, and then other times extremely busy and exhausting during home games. We had to restock the different stores in the stadium and deliver items that people requested, which could be difficult at times (one game when it was really busy and we were short-staffed, I made 6 deliveries, which involved basically walking halfway around the stadium one-way each time). I liked some of my co-workers, but there were others who could be difficult to work with, especially when things got stressful. There also weren't really set hours on game days - we had pretty much had to stay until the stores were stocked, which easily led to 10-12 hour long days at times. There was also times where I worked I started a shift in the afternoon, finished after midnight, and had to be back at 9 the next morning. You could pretty much choose exactly what days you wanted to work, but the flip-side of that was that many of my co-workers weren't working on game days when we needed more help and it was really busy. Also, there were no windows since we worked in a warehouse (but occasionally we had the chance to work in other parts of the stadium), so it was pretty much like working in a cave. On the plus side, the pay was better than a lot of similar jobs (starting at 13 an hour, eventually going up to 15), you could pretty much choose what days

Save your sanity and DON'T work for this conpamny. The stress & drama is through the roof. No matter how hard you work there will always be a issue and no recognition for excelling. Daily employees don't show up, are late when I say late I mean like 2-3 hours or they quit. On weekends everyone calls out because all the managers are off except for ones that hate. In my time of being employed there was not ONE week this wasn't an issue. Good luck with tryin to write up employees. The General Manager & Assisant General Manager refuse to hold anyone accountable because of the Union. It becomes all the managers fault. The work drama is horrible the Assisant General manager will constantly harass and pick at you if they doesn't personally like you. It's a constant game of them playing favorites & hiring their close friends. The management team is broken here. Many managers spend their days deliberately messing up each other. The upper management enables the behavior. Everyone has to be a "yes man" & bringing up issues or problems in the Corporation is even worse. Even when you have a solution to the problems that work. This will only get you targeted to get pushed out.There is no work/life balance. On days off you will receive emails and nasty text messages from other managers & the Assisant General Manager. Difficult and challenging employer. at qualcomm stadium , my experience was good. they recognized my experience and ability, and i managed a kitchen. I was a respected kitchen manager and I did a good Job. and was well liked .
when I transferred to Petco Park, it was a FECES SHOW they started me off on a double shift. there was no training or job related orientation whatsoever, they had decreased my pay when i signed on at Petco. and they demoted me to serving guests on the counter.
i worked overtime on my first night, until late at night , and then had to double back and return to work the am shift the following morning i got a total of 6 hours of sleep. and then had to return to work another eight hour shift. they offered me no parking validation or employee accommodation to park. I absolutely felt like I was abused and disregarded as a human being. Delaware North should be ashamed of the way that they treated me, They were INHUMANE . i was worked to the point of Physical Exhaustion. I could barely walk my feet were so sore . i was fired by a "manager" who couldn't take responsibility to stock cups or ensure that we had what we needed to serve the guests. She had no idea what she was doing, and it was clear she was incompetent . I was relieved to be terminated. on my second day, by this person. This is a union based property. If you have been employed here for 15 or more years it is a good place to work - but good luck getting there. Don't believe the promises of flexibility, work advancement and positive work environment given to you at orientation. They will expect you to work one or both of your days off during slow and peak times. They will schedule you grueling, physically demanding job duties with no regard to your age, size or ability. They will expect you to work any hour of the day, on any day and without warning for at least your first two years of employment. They will tell you that your children, family and health is "of no concern to them." You will not get requested days for time off. You will be expected to do two or more additional job functions for same pay every shift. You will not advance due to hard work or dependability, this is a union property, only length of employment gets you advancement. You will be surrounded by people responsible for doing the exact same job duty as you are, but getting paid twice as much as you are, and only doing half the workload. You will be expected to perform at new locations without training or guidance on a regular basis. You will be working under abusive management. You will have to fight for your every right while employed at Delaware North at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. It has a VERY high turnover rate for a reason. If you decide to work here, be prepared for an uphill battle that might get you
ProsYou learn a lot because they put you in a new place everyday, paid vacations if they approve your dates.

At Grand Canyon General Store in the village certain individuals with no ppl skills (including towards co workers)would repeatedly get their way(squeaky wheel I guess)and then defened when I mentioned it....employees are being hired with the implication of fulltime and benefits but are actually being hired as parttime so no benefit elgibility.(I found out accidentally when I didnt get holiday pay)..never got a straight answer on this,the so called handbook is not really a handbook.This would be a nice place to work if good employees weren't forced out by bullying or rude co workers..my housing was good
