The store i was in
The management were clicky, the last store manager i had was compmetly useless didnt know the first thing about running a big store, my line managers changed my first was amazing the last one didnt know anything either even though had been "trained" i had been to other stores and they wernt anythig like this one also the company values, views,are dated along with its fashion spec

Good job for student
Christmas temp job. Busy work day with some downtime at less busy times. Some existing staff would pick on the new people and shift their work into us and gossip most of the day. However, manager made me feel welcome

Like any other store envirnoment. Staff employed longer than 4 years are on a good salary, starting salary quite low now. Co-workers very pleasent. Free tea.

It was okay?
I worked in Debenhams in 2016-2017 as a Christmas temp. Instead of giving me a full contract after my initial contract was up they just kept extending it week after week which meant I felt like I had no real job security until May time in which they only gave me a contract because I had other interviews and it meant I'd have to give longer notice. People were nice though.

Bullying/ everyone has their gangs
I thought it would be nice working in Debenhams as I absolutely loved shopping there. However as soon as I got on to the shop floor the staff was absolutely rude and unprofessional. On one occasion the store manager yelled at me for no reason (just to make the other staff giggle) However when I stuck up for myself they all ganged up which made me feel really upset and down, the staff would then talk about me behind my back, and I just couldn’t be bothered with this childish behaviour. ..I therefore handed my notice and quit the job ! DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT ! Don’t even bother applying .

Working as a team was most enjoyable, as we all knew our tasks.

Don’t invest your time!
The team I worked with were amazing, I loved my job! The Management, policies, support , pay and company as a whole I found to be poor. The pay minimum wage at best, support, recognition, flexibility and guidance were none existent !

Fun and interesting work place
A typical day at work mainly consisted of making sales on the shop floor, as well as ordering and sending items, sorting out delivery and organising the stock room.

Great company to work for with a good team player environment
I worked as a Sales Advisor and enjoyed going the extra mile to assist customers on my department and worked with some awesome co workers. Management was always around to talk to and were always approachable.

Low pay, shift patterns are upside down, very much a bullying environment. Everyone is fed up most of the. Managers offer you no support. No scope for any career enhancement

Challenging but ultimately very rewarding professionally
I worked in the international division and my job was ultimately to ensure that our international debenhams franchise partners received the best stock for their markets. This required a lot of interaction with all parts of the business and required great communication skills.
In all honesty it also required a lot of negotiation and persuasion skills as unfortunately debenhams had become a very process driven non product focussed (or at least uk product focussed ) business which meant the product was not necessarily right for an international market. This meant you had to challenge ( a lot) and identify product gaps across all product types.

Worst job I ever had
Worse place I have ever worked in!
Management are awful and bullies, they used to check your personal bags when leaving work and embarrass people!
You’re on your feet all day and I wasn’t allowed to have a bottle of water on the shop floor for hours!!

first three years were amazing, the last year was unbearable.i loved my job ,but due to a change in staff and supervisor ,staying there was horrendous.

Fast pace working environment
Debenhams is a fast pace working environment, it is constantly evolving and challenging you. It is an exciting environment to work in. The people are great and a make the my working day an exciting a supportive place to work.

A very professional work environment
I had many responsibilities as a retail assistant tills, dressing rooms, departments, helping customers, and much more.
I have 31 years experience in retail so I learned many skills,
Customer Services, Stock- taking, Cash handling, Credit Cards, Management of staff and different type of departments from fashion to accessories, Ticketing, and many other retail skills. During my time with Roche's Stores before Debenhams took over the store myself and two other staff members managed a department for Punt Roma a Spanish company.
Debenhams work in a professional manner. The management I worked with where very approachable.
I worked with a lovely set of co-workers, they went the extra mile for the customer and for their fellow worker.
The work could get hard sometimes because there was a changeover from Roche's store so it took a long adjustment period.
The customer's where the most enjoyable part of the job. I loved helping them and mostly the elderly they would come in just to have a chat or where lonely. I loved helping people choose their clothes because some people are quite shy when they go shopping.

A good working environment
When i worked here staffing was very good and there was a good working atmosphere. I hear this is no longer the case and many cut backs have been made

filling out daily rosters for staff to know what thier are doing during thier shift. compiling rotas,serving customers,run shop floor in managers adsence, running my departments(click and collect-weddings services-travel money) previous departments (womenswear -childernswear -accesories- homewears-christmas gifts) all these departments are challanging in their own ways which I find enjoyable, able to interact with customers and staff alike.There is always training courses and retraining courses been run. I am able to communicate with managers in a professional way.Sometimes deliveries can be heavy which can be deifficult.
