It was a great company, friendly environment and co-workers. Management could be better with their employees but overall a good company to work for.

Fast Paced
Receiving dairy tankers, and processing 12-15 ingredients together to make a cold coffee drink. I have learned vital problem solving skills,as well as ordering ingredients, as well as serving as a lab tech in testing the quality of the product.

Good place for a single person with no outside commitments
Great place to work for the single person with no outside commitments or family obligations. For an entry level position, there is opportunity for advancement to a certain level. Once at that level it is hard to go any further due to the long standing employees that work there.
ProsGreat pay for a union job
ConsAlot of ot hours

My Position
Through my time with Dairy Farmers of America - Plymouth, WI, I have obtained my Cheese Graders License, Certified in HACCP and SQF. I have gained confidence in auditing with outside agencies. I had begun work with environmental and PSM/RMP (ammonia regulations). I established a grading program, was in the process of establishing my documents for SQF, environmental and PSM/RMP online. I went through documentation and made sure it was correct and up to date.
My manager was very supportive and encouraged me to obtain the certification and license. If ever I needed help, she would be there.
I got along well with my co-workers. We worked as a team.
There wasn't any part of my job that I would consider hard, other than when the plant closed. The most enjoyably part was creating my own path.

Fun place to work
I loved working at Dean Foods, it was competitive, fast paced, detailed oriented. You had to be very careful when entering orders in the system, but aside from that, it was a great place to work. I wish I could go back.

Great company but stuck in position
Dean Foods is a great company overall to work for with the benefits and confidence they are a strong company. Advancement within the company is almost impossible and all corporate positions have been moved to Dallas. Multiple company-wide conference calls and emails say they are working on this issue but have yet to make much progress.
ProsBenefits and job securitry
ConsLack of advancing current employees
