Hard work for those who like the job. Great hide out for those who don't like the job.
Great carrier to start with however too many high positions given to people who don't have the neccesary experience to do the job they are supposed to do.

This job requires an advanced degree or equivalent experience. The starting pay for new hires is gs-5. very low salary. we are considered mission critical. we don't have any breaks are required to stay at a console for eight hours. Meals are eaten at your work station. As mission critical employees we were required to stay during the government shutdown.

If the subject is admisable.you admit them. If not you either .defer them to the district office or...based on the documents presented declare them inadmissible to enter the U.S. This then requires a charge of..212 .7A.(I)(I)(1) intending Immigrant or immigrant without the proper documents. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing I was protecting our borders from .terrorist and those wh

CBP is an excellent government agency
I worked for CBP for over 35 years and progressed from an entry-level position to branch chief. There was much room for advancement for a motivated and hard-working employee.
ProsRetirement system, advancement potential
ConsNot all managers and supervisors were equally competent
