Intellectually stimulating environment
Days were fast paced but productive. I learned about authors and genres. The hardest part was Christmas rush and lack of staff. The most enjoyable was learning about different reading materials.

Enjoyable.
At Coles I worked in the Delicatessen and on the check outs. I really enjoyed working at Coles, as I am a people person, I loved when people lined up at my checkoutto get served.

Great experience with few downfalls.
Great in the sense of:
Variety, can work in various departments.
Fast-paced environment, always busy doing something.
Diverse staff that are friendly and some you make friends for life with.
Stable job with flexible hours to accommodate study.
Coles discounts on products.
However:
Good management usually but demanding overtime to complete more jobs in limited time frames.
On your feet more often than not so can take a toll on your shoe wear and feet.
Fun, worthwhile experience overall that I would recommend to anyone.

Typical day at work, every one is friendly customers are great to talk to so are the employees managers try and make the job easier, time efficient to reach our daily goals

simple day
Got to the Delectation Area and Started to put my apron and hat on, then I will wash my hands and check the cabinets for anything to fill, always did chicken every hour in a half as we sold that very quick. I will serve customers when I saw one come up, I will go on my break and start from the beginning again, I will put my apron and hat on, wash my hands and fill and serve customers, at the end of the day when the store closed I will clean up and sanitise the area before going home and making sure everything was done for the morning staff...

Good place to work if you want an easy job
The job was great , only thing was the culture was not .
I found it hard to work with people that didn't want too .
It was too easy for them to hide and avoid the work to be done .
I am from the old ways , when there is work to do you do it , and it is done right first time .

It was just a job
worked as a checkout operator while studying. Got trained to be a supervisor and initially had a great department manager. Once this manager was moved, the replacement was terrible

Office work
A day in this position was long and sometimes tiring. It usually consist of working with flies and organizing the office supplies. Running errands and making phone calls.

Fun work place, enjoyed my work
I thoroughly enjoyed working for Coles supermarkets between the years 2000 and 2009. My co-workers were a joy to work with and I enjoyed serving customers. A typical day at work would be working out how much stock to order and sending through the orders in the morning, setting up the service deli for the day, cooking chickens, cleaning, serving customers, making platters, answering phone, and if working at night, closing the deli. I would say the hardest part of the job would have been ordering the correct amount of stock as to not over order or under order, but soon got used to it as time went on. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with people, the customers and my co-workers.

If you enjoy constant pressure this is the place for you, within the commercial Team the pressure to perform is relentless.
Failure isn't an option, with a high turn-over of staff as a result, there are always opportunities across retail to join the Team. However, expect a high level of scrutiny and performance management.
The culture is moving towards a modern style but the old habits creep back in when things get tough

Good company to start as a casual job. Can progress into management role if you choose to go down that path. Repetitive work. Can be stressfull sometimes during christmas and easter periods

I enjoy working at Coles as a check out operator and also as a deli assistant. I like the team environment, also working on my own and being responsible.

Experience dependent on the store
The management see you as a number and not really an individual person. They will be friendly and kind when you are of use to them and then if something goes wrong or inconveniences them they are more than happy to have nothing to do with you.

I enjoyed my employment at Coles for the most part, but I'm ready for bigger and better things in life so this is just moving onto another chapter of my life.
