Overall Reviews at Clarks
3.0
I was recently laid off from Clarks. So this certainly colors this review.
I worked at Clarks for 9 years as a men's footwear designer. I worked on the lower-priced Collection shoes and even though my designs were huge money-makers for the company, I was never promoted. Still, I liked my colleagues there very much and I enjoyed doing good, productive work with them. Unfortunately, this company has undergone many leadership changes and so the culture was continually shaken up. The efforts to transform the company to be global were poorly managed and modernization of the e-commerce model was clumsy. I still love the brand and I hope they can pull out of the pandemic crisis intact and able to flourish.
ProsComfortable office spaces
ConsManagement's distrust of staff

Great Experience
Clarks is a laid back environment with a fun and energetic team. The location is one of the best in its district which led to high sales and commissions. Our hard work is earned and worth it. My daily tasks included managing the staff, sold one on one with customers, kept store tidy, counted registers, and dropped the deposit at the bank.

Good Place to Work
I started in Clarks in 2019. At first I didn’t enjoy it, the manager was not good at all, treated employees really badly. He got fired and the new manager was so much better. I really enjoyed the job afterwards but I didn’t see any job advancements in the future (From Sales Agent to Team Lead). Customers were really nice but there were some that were a nightmare. Hours varied from time to time. I decided to leave after I found a better job in IT in which I am a lead now. I would recommend this job to people that like “retail” but be warned, like every retail job if you don’t upsell you will be in trouble. Specially in the Accessories for the shoes.

Very fast paced yet fun envirmonment
Working for Clarks was definitely an eye opener. I learned the names of all the shoes and their detail such and show care and material, so I can be more informative on the shoes I sold. My co-workers were very friendly and funny, and I loves working with such optimism.

Strong trustworthy shoe brand that keeps true to their roots.
Open Management, since it is a local office, nice friendly environment, highly motivated and hard working, yet the balans work private life is respected.
The most difficult part of the Job was the commuting and the nice parts of the job is that you are part of the decision making of the region product line.
ProsNice casual friendly enviroment
ConsLocated in Breda and I live in Utrecht-Terwijde.

Good as a part time job for students
A typical day will include interacting with a range of customers and helping them find shoes that fit them best. This is especially important on the children's department. The hardest part of the job is the initial training, once you become confident in fitting shoes it becomes easier. It's not all about fitting shoes though, there's usually lots to be done behind the scenes in the stock room too so there's a variety of activities.

Good pay, good hours, nice staff
I really enjoyed my experience with clarks, I would have hoped I would have stayed on after the back to school season but unfortunatley that wasn't the case. Great overall place to work.

productive and fun workplace
I feel that Clarks is a great company to work for. I have learned a number of skills that I can use for the future, such as customer service skills and operating the tills.
My co-workers are excellent to work with. they're friendly, easy to get along with and the work hard as a team.
The management are also excellent. They listen and take on board your opinions, and are willing to swap shifts and work around you.
The hardest part of my job is keeping the shop floor tidy at peak selling times. on weekends it can become hectic which makes it difficult to keep constantly tidy, but we always manage to.
The most enjoyable part of my job is learning new skills and helping customers out. It's a great feeling to receive customer satisfaction.

Great company to work for as a whole, although doesn't provide staff with uniform which can be costly to keep replacing.
