Great place for a career
Just got hired on with the city as a garbage truck driver, and from management/trainers to co-workers a great place to work with so much opportunity to advance your career. Management/supervisors and trainers are there to help and assist you in any possible manner to help you in any aspect of the job and have an open door policy. And family and work life are amazing work 4 on 10 shifts with every Saturday Sunday and Mondays off and get that at most jobs.

Good place to grow
Pays well, lots of opportunities, generally good team. Usual office politics, exists but nothing out of the ordinary. If you are liked, more opportunities, if not, seek out your own opportunities. Opportunities exist.

Good compensation and benefits
This employer has good pay and has excellent benefits!
They are flexible and understanding on personal needs for time off.
However, morale seems to be a bit low due to the fact the City is over accommodating to certain indentified employees then others.

Wages
I worked as a lifeguard and realized for the amount of expensive certificates I needed to accomplish getting paid minimum wage is not worth it.
The good thing is they have flexible hours, for senior member only.

Challenging environment, but rewarding job
I'm working as a Client Service Worker at a City-operated shelter. Work environment is challenging but it is a rewarding job if you have empathy and tolerance. Pay is good, but you should be available for shift work including overtime shift.
ProsGood pay + benefit programs, contribution toward community, relationship building opportunity with co-workers during the shift
ConsChallenging work environment including the facility and people

I worked for over ten years, over qualified with no room to advance.
Great part time employment, no possibility for full time employment. Enjoy working with the clients, and most staff, however, management ,politics are a real bone of contention, That for me, has made it very unenjoyable, and miserable place to work.
ProsBetter pay
ConsNo room for promotion.

Ideal Workplace- City Hall, Toronto
I was working on an assignment for 3 months on a new program, held by the City, which is " Graffiti Murals in Toronto Streets". My role was creating an inventory recording all Murals that were installed in the past years funded by the City. This inventory includes all the data & information about every mural separately. The overall quantity was about 350 Mural Places.

Its a typical government enviroment
Governement workers get a bad rep. Some are lazy and fall into the day in day out routine. Any job is what you make of it. I have been with the City for many years. I understand we are paid well and have great benefits. I'm happy to have the job security.

It was a great experience. I would recommend this job to people. I loved working with the kids and the staff was friendly. I just wish they would increase their pay a bit because it is a tasking job.

Good workplace culture
The City of Toronto is a large organization with over 44 Divisions. The diversity of the people, roles and operations is a positive aspect of working at the City. It is a great place to work with many opportunities available to employees. There is meaningful work afforded to the employees and there is a sense of accomplishment as a good corporate citizen.

Okay
Aquatics staff are biased and uneducated...great job and easy money for a summer thing but don't recommend for anyone over 21... CRPs believe they are a lot smarter than they really are

Great place to have a big impact on the lives of the people living in Toronto
ICity ofToronto is a place to work for people who want to have an impact on the lives of people living there. I worked on many projects: community centers, employment places, civic centers, daycares and senior homes, public health and historical buildings. I walked under the City in most of the pipes including intakes under the lake, I flew planes taking aerial photos and climbed in trenches inspecting water main construction.
Prosworking on many interesting projects and to see them used
Consvery demanding and busy
