Overview

Chaplains are responsible for the spiritual growth of our members. They will be a part of an organization that is committed to providing exceptional service, which includes counseling, education, training and professional development. The chaplain serves as a resource in all aspects of life-changing ministry through leadership, mentoring and coaching. This position requires strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Duties

Chaplains are responsible for the spiritual direction of a congregation and their families. They will be responsible to provide pastoral care in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as well as other applicable laws and regulations. The chaplain is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance to members of the congregation who have been served by the church or its ministries. This includes leading worship services, supporting community service activities and teaching youth ministry.

Detailed job duties include:

  • Provides spiritual direction and guidance in accordance with specific mission, vision and values
  • Provides pastoral leadership for all members of the church, reviewing service plans and providing support when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintains an active presence at all times during worship/service activities

Qualification

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited college or university
  • Must have at least one year experience as chaplain in the field and/or equivalent combination of education and training
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with both students and staff members (either verbally or written)
  • Current CPR certification required for chaplains who are licensed to practice under their state of residence
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision while maintaining confidentiality within established guidelines
