Duties
The pharmacy technician is responsible for the administration of prescription medications and supplies to patients. This includes assisting in drug testing, administering medication orders, ordering refills, performing pre-order procedures, taking patient histories, making referrals as needed and providing support with pharmacy related questions or concerns.
Detailed job duties include:
- Prepares prescription medications for delivery and performs pre-disposure testing.
- Assist in the preparation of patient records (email, phone calls) by answering questions from patients or pharmacists regarding their medication status.
- Maintain accurate documentation on all orders received by the pharmacy assistant.
- Prepares samples to be delivered to the pharmacist as needed.
Qualification
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check, as well as the ability for physical examinations in accordance with state regulations (ie: NCP/CPR)
- Ability to work independently without supervision; must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, including good judgment, when dealing with customers at all times
