Nice place to work
Centrica is definitely a nice place to work. Good work life balance and opportunities to learn lots of new things. There is also a culture of pushing employees to always improve.

Poorly Managed Company Cardiff
I worked for British Gas for few years to which was the worst job ever.
The place is so petty even senior managers engage in shocking childish behavior.
Nothing never gets done and forgotten about constantly like booking a holiday your manager would say ill sort that for you but does not bother and when it comes to having time off in the good faith its been booked you find out it has not and manager then denies you even asked him.
co-workers are jealous of people that achieve better than they do and work harder,
If you want to work for a company were its like being back at school and them childish days then British Gas would be right up your street.
SSE is much better company to work for by miles.
Prosgood benefits
Conschildish management, broken promises by managers, pettyness

Great place to work for as a technician, all tools provided etc..
I started at centrica (British gas) as an apprentice gas technician and progressed into a senior technician within 5 years of passing my apprenticeship. I loved the job and the only reason I left was to fulfill my dream starting my own business.

Confusion & Disarray
This client was about to undertake a re-org, couldn't or wouldn't define clear objectives or requirements, and ended up putting the entire project on hold before we ever really got anything productive started besides a very limited pilot/exhibition of the technology.

Excellent Place to Work
Centrica (UK) is a great place to work. A typical day goes very fats when you are having fun. the management is approachable, they support you in whatever problems you have. they are very respectful and they understand that you have deliverables but you also have a life to live. The most enjoyable part of the job is that the job itself if fun, meetings are fun and very exciting.

A good place to work
I had and met some great managers and colleagues. The offices in Staines were nice with a good canteen. The only problem was parking but they may have resolved this now.

British Gas Retail Review
First I started as a data entry clerk inputting Energy Centers monthly stock-tanking, but after a few years this job moved to head office.
Then I became Stock-Controllers assistant assisting the Stock-Controller manager with doing spot checks on deliveries of appliances arriving. Also with ordering stock when it was running low and had great contacts with all the manufactures. Also arranging the delivery notes for the drivers for the following day and working with the warehouse staff to make sure all items on drivers schedules were correctly stacked onto the correct vehicles.
Then I was promoted to Returns Manager where faulty products were returned back to manufactures for exchanges or refunds.
ProsAs much overtime as I wished.
ConsThere were no cons apart from they closed down.

Highly professional
Most sought after company which values employees, work is kept easy and tasks don't flow in as a pressure, get to work on time and leave on time policy.

badly organised
working there was ok but there felt like sometimes that the managers didn't really want to help you and was just after their daily figures.
never got paid for some of the houses I signed up for cavity wall and loft insulation after they trained us to be cavity wall engineers and then had us doing door to door sales to bring in our own work and never paid us for those houses.
Prosok wages
Conslong hours and some hours you never got paid for the travle time

Good career progression
I have loved working at Centrica, they have really helped me to progress my career and develop new skills. I've worked in a number of different roles at Centrica and have been here for 11 years, unfortunately a volatile energy market has resulted in mass job losses and the career progression has ground to a halt.
ProsSupportive of carers

Ever changing company approach.
Difficult final period due to redundancies. Good people employed although ideas and advice from senior/experienced members of staff is not always taken on board.

Good Work Life balance
Centrica looks after their employees. With an exception of few days, generally work life balance is very good and we have flexibility to work from home if need be.
