GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for the development of all merchandising communication including seasonal event strategies, new initiatives and best practices for Ross and/or dd's Discounts Stores. Ensures consistency and accuracy across all tools. Looks for opportunities to improve existing communication processes and documents. Responsible for leading, managing and developing direct report(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages all processes involved in information gathering, documentation, production and distribution of planned and ad hoc merchandising communication.
- Responsible for leading, managing and developing direct report(s).
- High sense of urgency and can solve for challenges using experience, data and subject matter experts quickly and efficiently.
- Strategic and can establish expectations and goals for each project but can adjust and change direction mid-stream when needed.
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners when developing communication timelines to ensure accuracy and maximum efficiency of time and resources.
- Develops communication that translates complex concepts into clear and easy to understand communication with effective layout and design, language, and tone for the intended audience.
- Regularly visits Stores and leverages Field Leaders to evaluate merchandising direction and identify improvement opportunities and/or tools that drive execution.
- Manages expense budgets, monthly forecasts, and secures funding as needed to support new initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- BA/BS in related field preferred
- 5+ years of retail management experience that includes end to end project management in Store Operations, multi-unit or a hybrid of retail management and corporate experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop)
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence both corporate and field partners
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively in a changing environment
- Responsible for the ongoing development, engagement, and performance management of their direct report(s)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
Travel requirements: Ability to travel to stores in local and non-local markets as needed
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
